    About this property

This charming property is located in the beer garden of the Wagon and Horses Inn in the lovely market town of Bedale.
What a great location for a family get together! Hidden away in the beer garden of the Wagon and Horses Inn in Bedale, Red Barn is the ideal location for guests of all ages who are looking forward to enjoying the local hospitality, as well as exploring the local area and beyond. An upside-down style barn conversion, guests will find a kingsize bedroom with superb en-suite bathroom, triple bedroom and separate shower room all on the ground floor. On the first floor guests will find a large open plan living, kitchen and dining area. Keeping many of the original features including beams, high ceilings and a huge log burning stove, Red Barn is welcoming, warm and perfect for a holiday at any time of year.

Bedale is a thriving market town that dates back hundreds of years and is even mentioned in the Doomsday Book. With plenty to offer right on the doorstep, guests will find themselves spoilt for choice when deciding on where to stop for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Quaint restaurants and tea shops line the high street alongside local pubs and welcoming cafés, many with a wide choice of gluten free options, as well as an ice cream shop and old fashioned sweet shop too. There is a weekly farmers market that offers a variety of stalls with local produce, art and gifts as well as a popular auction house, shops and boutiques.

Perfect for walkers, ramblers and cyclists wanting to explore the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, there are many established public footpaths that lead directly from the town and then further on into the countryside. The Heritage Trail is a great walk to take and passes many of the town’s historic Georgian buildings. Beckside Footpath is another popular track which follows the beck past the weir to the old canal basin which is known locally as a real wildlife haven. With only a short trip into the heart of Wensleydale, guests will be treated to some of the most magical scenery, views and countryside that the county has to offer. Ideal for cyclists, the Tour de France passed through nearby Masham and is fast becoming a sought after destination for cycling enthusiast. Perfect too for train lovers, as well as those that enjoy the scenery, during the summer the Wensleydale Railway has a regular service that goes through with a stop at Bedale Station.

Other attractions in the local area include fishing, golf clubs at Bedale, Masham and Ripon, Thorpe Perrow Bird of Prey and Mammal Centre, Bedale Hall with its children’s play park, Bedale Museum, Kiplin Hall and Jervaulx Abbey. There is also the chance to visit Theakston’s Brewery and The Black Sheep Brewery which are only a short drive away. "The owner has gone to great lengths to think of everything, and invites her guests to make suggestions and highlight any issues. This is so refreshing! The cottage is great, lovely town, loads to do in the area. It is very close to the pub's outside courtyard which may put some people off, but it's very clear that this is the case before you book, and it's a nice pub anyway."

"Really enjoyed our stay here. Superbly equipped for a family of five (2 adults & 3 children) Convenient location for all the local amenities, close to cafe bars, tea rooms & boutiques. Don't let the location of the pub beer garden put you off, it's extremely quiet & peaceful (and rather convenient at times!). The owner makes you feel very welcome and lots of lovely extras. Planning a return trip later in the year."

"Gorgeous cottage & lovely friendly helpful host. There was a food/drink welcome pack on arrival.Great location for days out in & around the surrounding area. Close to high street, pubs & shops. The cottage had everything we needed & more. It was quiet, a parking space was nearby, plenty of towels & a good washing machine & a dryer if needed. Really cosy & homely with lots of toys there for children too, so a good choice for family’s (there was a stair gate at the top of the stairs for safety) Five of us went & it felt spacious. Everything had been thought of for a comfortable enjoyable stay.It was warm enough with the central heating even in snowy weather, so we didn’t use the stove but we thought that was a really nice feature & if we had of used it, it would of been extra cosy :)"
