We are under the assumption our lodge may have been unoccupied for a period and the issues we had on arrival could have been avoided if a maintenance inspection had taken place prior to our visit and also a quick check on the heating system. Again Cain was most helpful and did try to address our issues. The extra bedrooms we opted for did compromise the layout of the lodge (Maple VIP) somewhat so if you wish to have large open plan socialising area a different lodge may be required. The kitchen had a good supply of plates, cutlery, mugs, glasses and baking sheets, unfortunately only one very small pan and no ovenproof dishes or pots. So if you are planning on cooking during your stay (there are plenty of takeaways nearby) it may be worth taking a few essentials with you or nip to the supermarket. You will need to take washing up liquid, cleaning detergents, anti-bac etc, dish cloth, scourer, tea towels, kitchen roll - hand soap/hand sanitiser is not supplied as stated - and pop some extra loo roll in too.I am not sure it was of VIP standard but a few little details and just a few quid spent would definitely make a difference to the lodges:- hooks for towels and robes, a shelf to keep your wash bag in the en-suite bathrooms, replacement of the empty dispenser holders with proper shower rack/tidy, addition of bins to the upstairs bathrooms, a look at lamps and lighting, addition of a gate to decking to allow hot tub checks without staff having to enter lodges. If you are just wanting a base or just a chill-out weekend this is the place and good value for money.
