    About this property

This former hotel is in the village of Burton Agnes, set between Bridlington and Driffield and offers lovely accommodation for larger parties. The Blue Bell strikes all the right notes and is a perfect venue for that special day as the central room with its feature glass atrium roof seats up to 100 guests. The bedrooms are split across three areas with eleven in the main house, four set around a courtyard, three duplex apartments and a bunk room. All the bedrooms are en-suite with the majority offering super king-size beds which can be changed to create twin rooms. The master suite is a spacious indulgence with two bathrooms, whilst there is a family duplex room which can sleep up to fourteen. There is a large kitchen, perfect for a chef to create mouth-watering meals and there is a pub on-site which really provides all your needs under one stunning roof and the hot tub adds the icing on the cake. The Blue Bell is a wonderful choice for family gatherings as the central room doubles up as a games room and dining room with standard seating for 40 guests. There are two sitting rooms, one of which is known as the snug as it has an open fire where you can sit, raise your glasses and toast the occasion. In the village, Burton Agnes Hall is a magnificent Elizabethan mansion and well worthy of a visit to both the house and gardens. Walkers and cyclists, history and culture buffs, beach and seascape seekers are all catered for here. The stunning Yorkshire Coast is a mere 6 miles away offering sandy beaches and towering majestic cliffs full of seabirds and the Yorkshire Wolds is a rolling landscape dotted with pretty villages. The lovely market town of Beverley is under 20 miles away and offers a wealth of things to do, there are independent boutiques and shops within charming courtyards and cobbled streets. The Georgian Quarter is architecturally fascinating with many listed buildings including the 15th century North Bar and at the heart of the town is the Gothic cathedral of Beverley Minster. Beverley Racecourse is set in the stunning surroundings of The Westwood which has beautiful common grounds with good walks and views of the town. The accommodation is all there ready for you and all you have to do is provide the occasion!

Burton Agnes is a village 6 miles from Bridlington and is famous for the Elizabethan stately home, Burton Agnes Hall, built between 1598 and 1610. The house has been described as ‘the perfect English house’ and one of the twenty best English houses alongside Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and Chatsworth House. The house is lived in and has been in the care of the same family for more than four hundred years. The walled gardens and woodland walks are beautiful. Nearby Bridlington has two award-winning beaches of golden sand stretching out on either side of the historic harbour, bustling with activity. Beautifully designed promenades provide everything from fun-fairs to quiet places where you can sit and watch the world go by. Shops, attractions, restaurants and the historic 'Old Town' of Bridlington offer a fascinating contrast to life on the beach, where the latest Dad's Army has been filmed, whilst the Bridlington Spa Theatre on the front provides evening entertainment. A great area for bird and nature lovers, or simply for touring.

"We visited on the August Bank Holiday weekend and I hosted a Murder Mystery on the Saturday evening. My party was made up of 18 adults, 16 children and 3 dogs. Because of the amazing space the Bluebell Inn offers, which includes a good mix of room types (family, twins, doubles and a bunk house) I was able to host the Murder Mystery for the adults in the dining room, over a 3-course meal, prepared by caterers in the kitchen on the mezzanine level next door. The children were seated in the games room with a buffet, and they left the adults in peace. We were then able to retire to the bar area whist the children enjoyed films in the snug. There were plenty of bedrooms for my guests, they were clean and spacious, all en-suite. The bed-linen looked and smelt fresh and clean too. We had all the amenities we needed and, on request, our host provided newly-purchased extras. We did experience some issues during our stay, such as the children locking themselves out of the bunk room, but all questions directed, by text, to our host, were resolved quickly. I have to say, the issues were not caused by the bluebell, but by us either not finding things or asking questions that had not been a problem for anyone before. We were an awkward group :-D If you have a large group gathering I highly recommend the Bluebell and Mark and the team, who are always happy to help. The Inn itself is lovely and has a great feel about it. The historic Burton Agnes Hall is a short walk away and is well worth a visit along with the church. Beaches are a short drive away and also definitely with a visit. I would book this again for my next big event. The only suggestion for improvement we would make is a light at the back gate, as the paving is uneven outside so is a bit tricky to walk through at night. All in all we had a wonderful stay and my guests were all amazed at the great venue. Thank you."

" Holidayed in Feb half term with extended family. Very reasonable cost for such a large property. Rooms comfortable and the amount of fridge and freezer space was very useful. We self-catered all week. The kitchen had plenty of equipment although you had to hunt for everything as the cupboards were disorganized. The pub was a great space for spending the evenings and the kids loved the games room. Some of the inventory could do with a good clear out and overhaul. But no complaints. Had a great time in a fantastic place and the lady looking after the property was extremely helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Thank you. "

" We were an extended family of 40 plus, ages rannging from 6 months to 62. There were 16 children under 12 and they had a whale of a time in the covered courtyard (games room); so much space for them to play, such a bonus if weather is inclement. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and this was fantastic, although some of the flushes on the toilets need a heavy hand!! This is not a luxury holiday - some of the fittings are becoming a little shabby and there is a mish-mash of crockery and cutlery etc. The dining room is a bit canteen like. However, for the purposes of gathering families together, it is absolutely perfect. It’s certainly comfortable, well stocked with kitchen equipment (haphazardly but definitely plentiful!!). The grass area at the back is brilliant for rounders, football etc. It could be improved by - securing the access to the back of the property so that you get children (and dogs) cannot run out on to the car park or the very busy A road passing the property - new towels!! - closing the property at least twice yearly and undertaking a real deep clean - providing users with vacuum cleaner / mop and bucket (very difficult to keep clean all week with so many people and most users would like to leave it clean at the end of the stay. We would definitely return and recommend it for similar use. Bev & John, West Yorkshire "

" The kitchen was a bit disorganised and some basic inventory was missing - dustpan and brush, washing up bowl. However the lady looking after the property was very helpful and responded to all our queries. We loved the pub area and found this a great place to spend the evenings with the group. Kids moaned a bit about the internet connection as they kept getting logged out! This didn't worry us at all as we feel they should find other things to do on holiday! Loads of freezer and fridge space - which was brilliant as we self catered and had a huge food order delivered on day of arrival . Out and about there are some great things to do. Bridlington is a typical seaside town, The John Bull rock factory was a fun morning for the kids and an interesting tour for the adults, Bridlington animal park is well worth a few hours and further afield is Eden Camp and Hull. All in all a very good holiday and everyone enjoyed themselves. Would most definitely recommend this property. The only reason we aren't rebooking for next year is because we like to go to different places. Thank you. "

" .. so much better than I thought from the listing photos. Celebrated my 50th with an all female group of over 40 of us... place was clean.. we loved the bar.. great fun.. the function room we dressed up for the sat night! Disco lights, heated floor, space to dance after we easily 're adjusted the lay out. We used every inch of the place. Hot tub great.. Although a little lighting around the hot tub would have finished it off. It was Feb so gets dark early.. facilities in kitchen just perfect... relaxed on Sunday night in tv room... bedding and towels all clean ready for us on arrival ... did on line shop with Tesco.. they really cool n said they do regular delivery to the location.. plenty parking. Master suite was lovely two bathrooms.. thanks so much! We behaved and were respectful of neighbours so hopefully mark will let us come back again! Thanks again "

" Just back from a fantastic weekend at The Bluebell Burton Agnes.4-6th January 2019. Large family & friends group (32 in all) to celebrate my 50th birthday. From first enquiry with Mark to meeting the housekeeping team on arrival the service was first class. We arrived 20 mins early and the housekeeping team were just finishing the preparation of the property. They were very friendly, polite, welcoming and gave us a quick tour and run through of the facilities. The property was clean and facilities excellent, younger ones of our group loved the games room with table tennis, pool, air hockey, table football etc. The fact that this is a converted pub but still has the bar area makes it different from other property we have stayed at, but in a good way. It's like you are in your own pub (albeit you have to take your own drinks) which gives it a special feel. Kitchen excellent, rooms clean and comfortable, couldn't fault it at all. Hoping to organise another weekend there in the future, highly recommend. "

"The facilities are excellent. Beds very comfy with good quality pillows and duvets. Bathroom facilities are excellent. Kitchen equipment and crockery is plentiful although they could do with sharpening the knives and we didn’t find a carving fork. .Pub area is great and the games room is superb. Plenty of room for our party of 20 adults and 4 children. Even the children had their own ensuite bedrooms. Outside there was plenty of seating and the hot tub is good quality. I have to recommend the Blue Bell , we had a wonderful time. There were a few issues. It wasn’t as clean as we would have liked. Fran, the housekeeper, explained that the party before us had left it in a terrible state and they had tried the best they could. They need an outside television aerial . We managed to get the best picture we could for the England match by putting the aerial in a lamp shade , but it wasn’t really acceptable. We had to clean the hot tub . Fran rang me a week before we arrived to talk through the bedroom arrangements which was excellent , she told me that she could provide both travel cots and high chairs, which had said they couldn’t.. All in all it is a wonderful place and we will hopefully return"

All in all it is a wonderful place and we will hopefully returnI rented The Bluebell for a weekend in May 2018, for a family gathering. 23 family members ranging from age 3 to 75. From my initial enquiry right through to after we had left the property we received first class service from the owner and house keeper. Fran the house keeper opened up the house for us a few weeks before our stay so I could visit and view the amenities, understand the layout, allocate bed-rooms etc. The property was very clean on arrival and had everything we needed. On previous weekends where we have hired houses we have always struggled for fridge space. Not at The Bluebell. We had ample fridge space including fridges in the bar and kitchen. The space at the property is fantastic. The children loved the small snug area with the huge projector. Adults loved the bar area and we all loved the games room. All bedrooms are en-suite and all were made up to our specific requirements on arrival. Outside space was also great - loads of room for the kids and we even managed to fit a game of rounders on the lawn. Honestly cannot fault our stay. All our family members commented on what a great find the property was and we would definitely go back in the future."
