A stone-built, end-terrace cottage set on a hillside in the splendid rural conservation village of Luddenden, Apple House Cottage lies just four miles from the ever popular Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire. Light the wood burning stove in the sitting room, set within a charming stone fireplace and relax on the leather sofa or armchair as you watch some TV or choose a book taken from the shelf, while countryside views out of the large picture window offer a picturesque backdrop. Wake up to the same views from the master bedroom upstairs, host to a double bed and look forward to another day of adventure. From this attractive cottage just under two-miles away, above the beautiful Jerusalem Farm woodland is Bob’s Tearoom. Reward yourself with a choice of delicious homemade cakes and confectionery, whilst soaking up views across the valley from the rural terraced garden. A five minute stroll downhill from Apple House Cottage, is the traditional village pub, built in the 17th century, The Lord Nelson Inn. Here they serve traditional beer, bar meals and is renowned for its hospitality to dogs and owners alike. Filming from the The Nelson Inn took place for the popular TV show ‘Gentleman Jack’ as was the riverside walk passing the beautiful village Church of St Mary’s. Venturing further across Halifax the 600-year-old medieval manor of Shibden Hall, home of Ann Lister was used in creating the series and offers a wonderful day out. The recently renovated Piece Hall in Halifax is noted as one of the most remarkable and historic buildings in England offering a range of traditional small shops eateries and bars. A twenty minute car journey or train ride leads you to the quirky, artsy town of Hebden Bridge, where a creative culture has seen it blossom with independent cafés, shops and businesses, creating a vibrant and interesting place to visit, as well as being home to its own heritage with Hebden Picture House , Hardcastle Crags & Gibson Mill. Slightly further afield but well worth a visit in the bustling town of Shipley, visit the wonderful Salts Mill, an amazing former woollen mill housing unique independent businesses offering beautiful products from jewellery to ceramics to books, café and diner experiences alongside the David Hockney Gallery, all within this imposing and historic building. With all these wonderful opportunities relatively close by, Apple Tree Cottage makes for a delightful West Yorkshire base.

Luddenden is a conservation village in Calderdale, close to Hebden Bridge. The community is first mentioned in 1284, and in 1375 a corn mill was moved from Warley Town to exploit the Luddenden Brook. Nearby, the attractive town of Hebden Bridge is the home to the picturesque Rochdale Canal and a delightful Victorian railway station.
