Step into the property and you will find yourself in the cosy sitting room, complete with a dining area, comfortable sofas and warming wood burner, perfect for putting your feet up and relaxing after exploring the local area. Through a door you will come upon a fully-appointed kitchen, with a further door to one side hiding a staircase down to a cellar with a handy utility area with log storage and the washer/dryer/freezer. Upstairs there is a light and airy double bedroom with lovely open views. Additionally there is a walk-through bedroom with 2 adult bunks and built-in wardrobe/cupboard. The bathroom consists of a spacious corner shower, which is also on this floor. The cottage includes many period features including the stone surround to the fireplace and the stripped back doors to the first floor. Heptonstall is a characterful village in upper Calderdale Valley that seems almost untouched by time, full of winding cobbled streets and stone-built cottages, with the main street not appearing to have changed in the last 200 years. There are two characterful pubs, a café and post office/shop. Explore at your leisure to discover the unique arrangement of 2 churches within the same graveyard, the story of the coin clippers and the grave of Sylvia Plath. There are plenty of walking opportunities in the area with Hardcastle Crags and the Pennine Way nearby, as well as cycling routes and scenic drives. The lovely Calderdale Way passes within feet of Cobble Cottage. The town of Hebden Bridge is a short drive or walk away (albeit steep !) and is a friendly centre full of quirky shops, pubs, eateries and boutiques. Why not hire a boat on the Rochdale canal or visit the independent cinema? The famous village of Haworth with its Bronte Parsonage Museum is a short drive over the moors. The pretty town of Hebden Bridge sits within the Calderdale Valley and provides home to the picturesque Rochdale Canal and a charming Victorian railway station. Excellent walking country, with the National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags and the Pennine Way close by, this delightful location is also the first 'Walkers are Welcome' town in the UK, a scheme supported by the Ramblers’ Association. Alternatively, scenic drives and fabulous cycling, as featured on 2nd stage of the 2014 Tour de France and the 2015 Tour de Yorkshire, can be enjoyed from your doorstep. The popular village of Howarth is nearby, well known for its winding cobbled streets and the Bronte Parsonage Museum, the former family home of the illustrious Bronte sisters. The area is also a must for steam railway enthusiasts who will enjoy the thriving Worth Valley Railway, whilst the highly acclaimed Eureka Museum is in Halifax, noted for its unique Piece Hall and its Victorian architecture. The stunning architecture of the Dean Clough complex should also be admired and is just seven miles away. Skipton, Gateway to the Dales and Holmfirth, recognised from Last of the Summer Wine, are also both easy car rides away.
