About this property

Oxenhope 2 miles. This delightful, stone-built detached cottage sits in an elevated position, just two miles from both Oxenhope and Haworth. Situated in a quiet location within its own spacious grounds, on the edge of Upwood Park, the cottage boasts outstanding views across the valley to the distant fells. Complete with private hot tub, in the very heart of Bronte Country, this is a superb place to relax and unwind and enjoy this famous old area. Featuring a lovely sitting room with cosy woodburning stove, picture windows to enhance the views, a separate dining room, which will seat eight in comfort, and a well-equipped kitchen with all the usual appliances, this is a fantastic base. Upstairs there are two spacious bedrooms, both enjoying good views across the valley and a useful bunk room, ideal for the children, as well as a large modern shower room. There is also a second smaller shower room on the ground floor. Everyone will love the hot tub, a perfect place to unwind and gaze at the wonderful rural views reaching for miles. The village is only a couple of miles away with a host of good pubs, and there are challenging walks from the doorstep into wild and rugged Dales’ countryside. Upwood Park offers a vibrant clubhouse for guests with a soft play area and combined games room, excellent bar with real ales and nightly weekend entertainment during the season. Nearby Haworth is steeped in literary history and was formerly home to the Bronte sisters. Haworth has much to offer, including a variety of walks, which allow visitors to follow in the footsteps of Cathy and Heathcliff by wandering the fantastic rugged moorland. The market town of Hebden Bridge is nearby, and within reach is Skipton with its cobbled streets and delightful castle, whilst further afield is the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, boasting fabulous shops, an excellent theatre and the Royal Pump Room Museum. You can also make a trip to the famous Malham Cove. This is a wonderful holiday cottage, perfect for that much promised visit to the Yorkshire Dales.

The small village of Oxenhope lies amid wonderful scenery, and offers the chance to take advantage of the multitude of walks in the area. The village, with its shops, churches and pubs, is home to the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, which runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley.

The views were wonderful and the house had plenty of room for us 4 adults. The hot tub was a real indulgence after a long day walking and exploring the area. Karen was really helpful and responsive to anything we needed. We will be back again.

The house is spacious; has every amenity that one could wish for plus stunning views from nearly every window AND...that hot tub, - DELIGHTFUL! Many thanks Sykes and all at Oxenhope!

As per conversation with one of your team on the last day, it would be so beneficial if both garden gates were adapted so little furry legs cannot get through the bars. Perhaps chicken wire? We were using the benches from the outside table all week which is not ideal however they would have just escaped without us doing so. We have booked again for next year. If this is something you can organise it would make our stay (and presume others with smaller dogs) more adapting. Just fyi, the egg cups were all chipped in the cupboard. Not a big issue for us. Just wanted you to know to replace. Also the knifes are very blunt and could do with sharpening or replacing. Thanks again for a lovely stay and also thank you for allowing us to have all our dogs with us. Absolutely perfect :) Regards Mr & Mrs Welch x
