About this property

A first-class semi-detached, stone-built cottage, attached to the owner's home, situated just five minutes’ walk from the centre of Haworth, the home of the Bronte sisters. This outstanding holiday home, three years in the making, is a masterpiece of creative styling and artistic flair and a great credit to the owners who have painstakingly brought all the elements of this historic old property together. From the moment you walk into this stylish accommodation you cannot fail to be impressed by the owner’s attention to detail and the wonderful styling and quirky design of this fabulous romantic retreat. The lovely kitchen/diner is bathed in soft light from the Velux window, whilst the warming AGA and the bespoke styling all seamlessly combine to create a cosy room ideal for a home-made meal and a relaxing bottle of wine. The spacious sitting room with its lovely woodburner and delightful soft furnishings provides the perfect spot to snuggle up and enjoy a movie night. The real delight of this wonderful holiday home lies upstairs where the entire floor has been opened up to provide a real wow factor. The freestanding copper bath with the home-made champagne glass holders and the taps made out of an old trombone, form the centre piece of the room with a luxurious king-size bed and small en-suite to delight guests. The house is bedecked with curiosities, skilful home-made fittings, including a Victorian gas meter holder made into a set of lights, vintage pieces and the occasional splash of Art Nouveau, old beams and exposed stonework which all seamlessly combine to delight all visitors. A small patio area adjoins the kitchen and provides a place to enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Haworth is a very popular atmospheric old town, and a short walk from the cottage brings you to the main street, where you will find an abundance of traditional pubs, restaurants and cafes. Many come to visit the parsonage where the Brontes lived during the 1820s and see the surrounding moorlands where they drew inspiration for their classic tales. While there is something for everyone in the town itself, the nearby market town of Skipton, boasting cobbled streets, a medieval castle and award-winning high street makes a wonderful day out. Further afield, are Hebden Bridge and the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, as well as the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, just over half an hour's drive away. A first class romantic retreat.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren.

There is so much to look at enjoy. We were very comfortable throughout our break and The Dairy had everything we needed; a well stocked kitchen for cooking, comfortable sofas and bed and the joy of the copper bath! It was a 5 minute walk to the cobbled street, pubs and cafes, and even quicker to the station. Our hosts were very responsive and helpful. Tim helped us with walking routes and recommended the bus journey to Hebden Bridge, which was definitely a highlight.

It was well equipped for our needs and comfort. The owners gave us a detailed welcome via email, so that we didn't need to ask about anything on our arrival. The property truly is a remarkable place to stay, with lots of quirky things to keep you entertained.
