    About this property

This delightful, ground floor apartment is nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the historic Kinnersley House.
Kinnersley House has a fascinating history and is situated in the village of Malvern Wells, in the Malvern Hills, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with stunning views over the Severn Valley. The early history of Kinnersley House is interwoven with the story of the French Revolution. The house was built in 1835 and later purchased by the Marquis de Lys, whose grandfather had been taken out of France to avoid the persecution which followed the French Revolution of 1789, in which no less than sixteen of his close relatives were executed. He was the only surviving representative of his ancient Breton family. The Marquis de Lys made significant alterations and modifications to the interior of the property between 1863 and 1865. He was an important local benefactor and a significant driving force behind the revival of Catholicism in the area and is buried next to his wife in the nearby St Wulstan’s church, which is also the final resting place for Sir Edward Elgar.
The apartment enjoys a spacious living room and a small garden which overlooks the valley, perfect for couples, small families or friends wanting to explore the Malvern hills with over 100 miles of footpaths and bridleways. Malvern is only 3 miles away where you will find a great selection of antique and high street shops, pubs, restaurants and the famous Malvern Theatre. The Three Counties Showground is a mere 15-20 minutes’ walk downhill and has many shows throughout the year, including the Royal Horticulture Society Spring Show, the Autumn Malvern Show and the Royal Three Counties Show. There is so much to see and do in the area including visits to many historic and stately homes; Eastnor Castle, Goodrich Castle, Berrington Hall, Croome Court, Witley Court, Croft Castle and Hellens Manor. For transport enthusiasts you can visit the Morgan Factory Museum or take a ride on a steam train on the nearby railways of the Severn Valley, Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway and the Dean Forest Railway, all within easy reach. The local towns of Upton-upon-Severn, famous for its music festivals and riverside pubs, Ledbury with many traditional black and white buildings, Cheltenham Spa with its famous horse racing festival and the cathedral cities of Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford, home of the Three Choirs Festival, are all within an easy drive. Further afield are the beautiful Cotswolds, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and the historic university city of Oxford. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 250 yards.
