    About this property

Wigrams Canalside Cottage is a single-storey, semi-detached holiday property attached to the owner's home, occupying an idyllic setting next to the canal, in a quiet corner of Warwickshire. This is a lovely, romantic hideaway enjoying views over the duck pond from the kitchen and a homely feel throughout, ideal for couples looking to escape. Head into the entrance hall at the front, which is great for storing your bikes and walking gear ready to take on the local attractions in the area. Unwind in the open-plan living room and truly make the most of your evening, with cosy nights before the fire and romantic dinners cooked up in the well-appointed kitchen. There is a lovely breakfast bar for reading the morning newspaper and every inch of the space has been thoughtfully presented to make you feel right at home. There is a beautifully presented king-size double bedroom, which is zip/and link offering flexible sleeping arrangements, while the shower room boasts a large walk-in shower and plenty of space to get ready. Enjoy a morning coffee in bed and watch the canal boats chugging past the window, carrying other holiday makers enjoying their time on the water. Watch and feed the local waterfowl and free roaming hens, and later sit and watch the sunset, with an evening drink, and only the fence between you and the canal-boats. Or at night sit gazing at the stars and benefiting from the crystal clear skies due to no light pollution. If you are planning a group or family gathering please note there is a campsite alongside the cottage and a guest house in the adjacent property catering for up to three couples. As the cottage is immediately alongside the canal if any of your party have a boat, they may wish to moor alongside with a gate straight off the canal towpath.Or should your friends or family wish to hire a boat from one of the hire fleets within a mile radius, they can bring it to the cottage. The owners are happy to assist in moving the boat should you wish. The property ideally located the canal so should any of your party have a boat, you are able to moor alongside with a gate straight off the canal towpath. Guests are able to hire a boat from one of the nearby hire fleets. There are lovely walks from the door and you are moments away from the marina, as well as the village shop and pub at Napton-on-the-Hill. There are no public roads in the vicinity, but there are lovely walks directly from the door along the towpath, and you are moments away from the marinas, the pubs, as well as an award winning village shop & cafe at Napton-on-the-Hill. The historic town of Southam is also nearby with a supermarket, regular farmers' market and a leisure centre. " We were delighted with the high standard of the accommodation and of course it’s superb location. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack. If we decide to visit this area again Wigrams will definitely be our first choice! "
    Miss Crump ‐ 1 Sep 2021
" Bed very comfortable and stunning views all round. Lots of walks nearby on foot and car. Lovely welcome package from owners with jams, eggs and bread. Lovely touch. "

" It was our second visit and hopefully won't be our last. "
    Mr Beal ‐ 1 Apr 2021
" “It was lovely to be able to lie in bed and watch the boats passing by. The friendly chickens could be a little bit of a nuisance as they liked to try to come in the open doors. The welcome pack was beyond our expectations containing milk, bread, eggs, jam, honey, marmalade and some flapjacks. There was also tea and ground coffee for use in the cafetiere. The facilities were perfectly set for self catering although the chopping boards were a little small. There were USB ports in some of the electric sockets so charging devices was easy. Our only complaint was with the heating. Although this was on it seemed to be set at a very low temperature so it was cool when getting up first thing. It was easy to raise the temperature but should not have been necessary. Although wi-fi was available it was a little sketchy anywhere but the bedroom. An extender might be an idea.” "

" My fiancé and I had a magical weekend at Wigrams Canalside Cottage. The hosts have recently done the cottage up to an impeccable standard with everything you need to be be comfortable. The cottage has a large walk in powerful shower, toiletries, logs, WiFi, a tv, washing machine and much more. Clean, tidy, warm, friendly - you will not be disappointed. Elaine makes the most wonderful jam for you to have with your breakfast in the morning, you must try it! "

" The photos don't really show just how nice the cottage and the location really are. The location is beautiful - the immediate area is just so relaxing, watching the boats go past everyday but the wider location is also really pretty. It certainly rivals Cornwall and The Cotswolds, but much better value and much less traffic. There are lots of dog friendly pubs nearby, everyone is very friendly and there are so many beautiful places to dog walk. Our welcome pack was fresh bread, home made jams and homemade flapjacks - fabulous and very much appreciated. We will definitely be back. on the other hand are not so good - there have got too big and no longer understand customer service. They really need to get their act together and not work against the cottage owners, who work so hard to offer a great product. "
    Ms Rowland
" The local pubs provided great food and the local village post office/village shop had everything...including Water Buffalo (locally sourced) ice cream. "
    Mrs Powell
" Couldn’t fault anything, it was so relaxing sitting in the garden watching the boats go by, absolutely lovely, didn’t want to leave. We were also lucky enough to have exceptionally good weather for September. "

" Reasonable wheelchair access. Small ledge to double doors. Ok going out but needs a slight lift on entering. This didn’t impact on us as hubby can walk a few steps. Owners are very obliging. We had a lovely time. "

"Lovely cottage and well equipped with all you could need. The bed is really comfortable, unlike the sofa which is really hard. The Wi-fi works really well, but only in the bedroom. It was a lovely place to spend a week relaxing and visiting the local area. "

" It is simply and tastefully decorated and equipped; deceptively spacious. We lacked for nothing in the equipment provided and it was very clean. We particularly appreciated the welcome pack that was left for us - bread, milk, freshly laid eggs etc. The cottage is remote and in the heart of the countryside but within a fairly strenuous walk of the village and a good pub/restaurant. Because of the canal there were plenty of boaters and walkers to speak to. Altogether an excellent holiday. "

"The only drawback was that the cottage is joined to the owners B&B and one of its bedrooms was above ours. Unfortunately for us during our stay for three nights persons using the B&B bedroom decided they needed to get out of bed at 3.30 am and walk up and down for 30 mins or so - and not too light on their feet either ! Obviously this kept us awake for those periods. ..."
