About this property

Hillview Cottage is a cosy bungalow located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the picturesque village of Brixham, on the southern side of Torbay. Perfect for couples, especially walkers or small families looking for a quiet holiday getaway. This little hideaway offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, a chance to spend some quality time with your loved ones. The bungalow is all on one level, so is also appealing to the less agile. There is a front entrance ramp or a couple of steps and only one step out to the lower garden terrace and eating area. The cottage boasts a lovely, well-stocked kitchen, ideal for preparing those summer evening meals to eat on the terrace, or picnics to take out for a day's sightseeing or just relaxing on one of the beaches. Here is a beautifully furnished lounge/diner, complete with TV, WiFi, games and books. There is a gas effect fire and central heating for your comfort, which makes the most of the modern homely interior. Choose from one of the two bedrooms for a well-deserved rest after a day of sightseeing, both the king-size double and the twin arrangement come complete with a stylish dressing table and coordinating bedside tables. Awake and prepare for the day ahead in the spacious bathroom, benefitting from a double walk in shower. For a change of scenery, why not unwind in the enclosed terraced garden, which is bordered with plants and offers fantastic views over Brixham towards Dartmoor? You can sit and listen to the sound of the steam train whistle as it leaves for Dartmouth. The back garden gate leads directly to the South West Coastal Path, ideal for walkers, where you can access the sandy beach of St Mary's Bay via some stone steps. There is a local Spar shop within a five-minute walk for all your daily needs and papers. Shoalstone indoor swimming pool is within easy walking distance, and it is only a short drive to the seawater pool at Shoalstone Beach. Not too far from the sea and local beaches, with something for everyone, this ideal location is the perfect getaway not to be missed. Brixham Harbour is famed for its fresh fish market, where you can see the trawlers unload their daily catch and you can buy some fresh fish for your supper. You can also take the ferry from the harbour to Torquay or book a fishing trip. There are many local pubs and restaurants all around the harbour serving great food and of course the locally caught fresh fish. For something different take the round trip on the steam train to Dartmouth with a boat trip, which sails up the River Dart past Dittisham and Stoke Gabriel and into the market town of Totnes. Or take the car ferry over to Dartmouth and visit the local shops, try the fish and chips, and take a trip along the River Dart and see Agatha Christie's former house as you sail by. A fabulous getaway not to be missed.

Brixham is located in the area known as The English Riviera, famed for its sunny climate all year round. The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region.

Everything was clean with all our needs met, and we were always pleased to arrive 'home' after another day exploring south Devon.

Warm & cosy house in quiet part of the town. Our experience, on our first stay, is most definitely positive. We would be happy to use Hillview and Sykes again.
