We were homeless and Blue Chip came to our aid; let me explain. We completed on our house late May 2016. Our park home was not ready and we went into two properties before worrying about our next temporary home. Sue's sister had used Blue Chip to book her holiday property in Brixham so we had a go; being mindful of the requirement for a property that can take two miniature poodles. We needed to be near Paignton (our final destination) and so the Blue Chip web site came up with Elberry Cottage; initially for two weeks but extended to 30 days! The first impressions of Elberry Cottage were "what an amazing place". Very welcome gifts were left on the dining table with a folder containing a. A stone floor in the lounge/diner with an open fire (lit it first time, yay!). We bought some covers to put over the settee and chair (to stop dirty paws from marking the furniture). The window seat (over an enclosed radiator) was ideal for the dogs waiting for us to come back from shopping, etc. The kitchen had a wooden floor and so was easily cleaned. The electric two-compartment oven needed a review of the instructions (contained in the very useful folder). However, it had a lower door that was related to Arkwright's "Open All Hours" till - at least the heat was kept in the oven. The fridge/freezer held quite a lot of food. Up the stairs from the front door is two bedrooms (a double and bunk-bed) and a shared bath/shower room. The bath was a rolled-top slipper bath on four ornate legs. It looked too good to use so we stayed with the shower ;-) From the kitchen a back door leads to a part-paved garden and an out building containing a games room and laundry room (containing a washing machine, dryer, iron and board, toilet and basin). The refuse wheely bin and recycling containers had to be taken through next door's garden for a Thursday morning and brought back when emptied. There is a large LED TV to the left of the fireplace. The TV had Freeview channels which we were familiar with. There was also a DVD player connected to the TV. There is free WiFi through a router that can handle up to five appliances (I had a WiFi printer/scanner which performed admirably through WiFi). Would we stay here again? We certainly would. The neighbours were very pleasant and had a chat at every chance - nice!
