"This property is in a beautiful setting and the owner lives close by. We had a warm welcome on arrival and were very optimistic of a good stay. However, this barn does not merit the 4 star rating that it has. The property is very tired and in need of modernisation, particularly the kitchen. The cupboards are very old and the vinyl is peeling off of them exposing the bare wood along the edges. Some of the crockery is very badly chipped and stained. The chopping boards are also very stained and scored. Two baking tins were extremely damaged with the teflon coating chipped away. They couldn't be used. No oven gloves were provided. The kettle switch was broken. The TV hand control did not work for a majority of the time. The radiator in the bathroom did not work and the extractor fan was broken. However the owner did get that mended whilst we were there. The bathroom fittings were old and rusty. There was no information in the cottage about how to use the appliances and very little information on sites to see and pubs/restaurants to visit. There are two barns on site with a "games room" in the middle. However the games room no longer exists and it is now the owner's workshop/ garage for several motor bikes. Our friends had the other barn "Willows" which was also in a similarly poor condition and they experienced a nasty smell of petrol in there one evening, only to discover that there was only a thin wooden door between them and the workshop! It is such a shame as the setting and location are perfect. The owner was informed."

"Great place for a relaxing holiday"

"The cottage was lovely. Although wasn't entirely clean and had a problem with lots of flies. However, it had everything we needed in the cottage and it's in a lovely area which is quiet. Stuart the guy who owns it is lovely and was happy to help us out with anything extra we needed and point out things that we could do."

"Lovely cottage but it lacks basic equipment such as a working tin opener. Also the bathroom heating did not work."
"We had a very comfortable stay. The cottage was warm and cosy and very nicely and recently renovated. The beds were very comfortable and the location very peaceful. Would highly recommend!"
"very peaceful.nearest town Woodbridge very nice and interesting."
"This is a little gem of a place if you want to be away from it all with peace and quiet, but it is also quite central to many places of interest. The property itself has been very well converted and is clean and very comfortable. We met the owner on arrival very friendly. Would go again and would certainly recommend it."
"For 6 persons, another loo would be useful, cramped dining for 6, a small vacuum cleaner would be useful, beds very comfortable, quiet surroundings, plenty to do and see within 25 miles, helpful proprietor."
"Stunning location, beautiful place to stay, very welcoming host. We loved our stay there and would highly recommend."
"My family all loved the cottage. Stuart was a very helpful host and did his utmost to sort out a problem with the heating. it certainly didn't spoil our Christmas. We had a wonderful time and one of the best Christmases ever!"
"Great Base in a tranquil location. Not too far from Ipswich but far enough."
"Lovely cottage and welcoming hosts. Quite remote but lovely countryside"
"Will stay again. Family Enjoyed the games room very much. Cottage was clean and comfortable. Surroundings were peaceful and tranquil. My parents also enjoyed the calm, relaxing atmosphere."
"The cottage was disappointing - the seating was extremely uncomfortable and the bathroom facilities very basic. Mobile coverage was just about non-existent and it was alarming to be advised to travel to the nearest call box if there was an emergency!! Fortunately, it is in a brilliant location in Suffolk."
"We enjoyed our stay very much, the safe outdoor space where the children could run around was particularly welcome. Brambles is certainly a place we would come back to."
"The cottage was not clean at all. Dirty bathroom and dirty kitchen. The sofas were so worn out and old that we could only sit on them by sitting on one of the cushions. The toy barn did not look like it was used since ever. They still had videos on the shelf, everything was terribly dusty and full of spider webbs. It just did not look inviting. I tried to ring the two phone numbers that were in the booklet (mobile and landline). No one ever answered or returned my call. The bins both exploded with rubish. How often do they get collected? I can't imagine that all this waist was just from 14 days. The only good thing was that the kitchen and house were well equiped (however dishes not clean) and that the sheets on the bed felt clean and beds were comfortable. It would be good to invest in wireless. Still, this place was far too expensive for what we got in return."
"We loved being at Brambles especially after our girls found out about the common snooker and Ping-Pong room that they could use, they wouldn't want to leave the house for sightseeing :-)The location is in the middle of no where, so great to relax and enjoy the countryside but you really need a car if you want to get out. Closest supermarkets are at least 15m away. It's a good location to go to Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Southall and even Cambridge in case you want to know Suffolk better. The hosts are very nice but will only interact with you if you need or want, so there's a lot of autonomy. our daughters left asking to come back!"
"lovely cottage some equipment dated and in need of replacement. tv very small for size of lounge"
"We had a great holiday at this cottage, the owners were very accomodating as we needed to stay on a couple of days, recommend that you bring your own darts for the dartboard and some chalk for the pool cues if you intend to use the games room, lovely place to unwind."
"Brambles was a beautiful location, very safe and secure for our children to play outside ( 13month & 4.5 yr old).My only criticism would be the overall cleanliness it was quite dirty when you scratched the surface. Also the sofas were extremely sunken and uncomfortable, overall I think in need of a bit of a make over. This said we would not be put off staying here again, it was extremely well equipped in the kitchen and the bedrooms were very spacious."
"Very pleasant cottage - great barn conversion and facilities. Excellent surroundings. Lovely, thoughtful and welcoming owners. Would stay there again."

"Brambles is a clever barn conversion situated in a beautiful and tranquil part of the Suffolk countryside. It is roomy, comfortable, well equipped and has very pleasing decor. There is plenty to amuse children (or adults) with an entertaining games room and large garden with well fenced off duck pond at one end. The owners are pleasant and approachable. There are plenty of interesting things to do within easy reach and we had a fantastic week despite the weather being less predictable than usual for this part of the UK. We hope to return at some point in the future. July 2012."
