About the Property: This stunning Suffolk Cottage Holiday Property is close to the Suffolk coast amidst farmland, in the heart of the Suffolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Thought to be the oldest property in the village, Thatched Cottage retains all the very best features of a bygone age including a large inglenook fireplace with open fire perfect for winter breaks and an original bread oven (no longer functional but converted instead to a stunning lit feature). Picture-postcard pretty, Thatched Cottage has a traditional charm second-to-none and stacks of character, perfectly furnished and gently modernised in all the right places. The large hedged garden with the small village stream running at the end provides plenty of space for children to play and explore. Lovely circular walks over surrounding farmland and woods are accessed from the quiet lane adjoining the cottage.

This property is ideal for: either a family getaway or a relaxing retreat with friends. At Thatched Cottage you have the combination of a quiet country haven with the option of visiting the picturesque seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. Two babies are welcome, as are two well behaved dogs.

Parking: Parking is available for two cars in the gated drive which is fenced off from the road. There is sufficient space to park and turn round a 4x4.

Pets: Up to one well behaved dog is very welcome at Thatched Cottage.

Exploring: Thatched Cottage provides a great base for visiting the attractive seaside towns and villages of the Suffolk coast including Thorpeness and Aldeburgh, both of which are within just a few picturesque miles. The international concert hall at Snape Maltings is within ten minutes' drive. The tiny village has its claims to fame; the 18th century Sternfield House was the meeting place for Churchill and Eisenhower when they were discussing how to defend the East coast against Nazi invasion. Also as the post-war home of the Queen's Equerry, Sternfield was a frequent weekend retreat both for Queen Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret.

Dive right into the multitude of opportunities that this beautiful area of Suffolk has to offer! From local history to dog- friendly scenic walks, as well as annual events such as the Aldeburgh music festival, soak in the cultural delights of this charming location.

Self Catering: Saxmundham has both a Tesco and Waitrose store, and Aldeburgh has two Co-op stores with one situated on the High Street. Several shops sell top quality local produce - Lawsons delicatessen is a must as is Aldeburgh Market. Fresh fish, lobsters and crabs can be bought from the sheds on Aldeburgh beach. With an Independent wine shop, butcher and baker, Aldeburgh caters for most needs! Snape Maltings is also only a few miles away with The Food Hall and Farmers Market.

Thorpeness has a traditional village shop providing the community and holidaymakers with locally sourced fresh food. The shop stocks all the essentials, as well as a good selection of wine, local cheeses from the deli counter and local fudge from Olga.

Eating and Drinking out: At Thatched Cottage, you are perfectly positioned to explore the best of what the Suffolk coast has to offer.

Aldeburgh offers a variety of pubs, restaurants and tearooms to choose from. The White Lion Hotel has sea views and a traditional menu and Prezzo provides a relaxed, friendly atmosphere for all ages. For slightly more formal dining try Regatta or The Lighthouse. However, no trip to Suffolk could be complete without trying the town?s world-class fish and chips: there are two great fish and chip shops in Aldeburgh high street, both with a fantastic reputation... you may have to queue at busy lunchtime periods but it will be well worth the wait.

A visit to nearby Thorpeness will also be sure to tickle your tastebuds. The Dolphin Inn is just across the road and is a lovely place to enjoy a good quality meal; the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing with a picturesque garden, making it a favourite with locals and holidaymakers. The Kitchen @ Thorpeness is a fully licensed Bistro and restaurant, with great views of the Thorpeness Meare and just a stone's throw from the beach. Serving fresh food, whole-bean coffees and loose-leaf teas. Also a lovely place to enjoy an evening meal. As if you weren?t already spoilt for choice, The Meare Shop Tearoom makes for a great place to have lunch, with a good selection of cakes and meals and wonderful frothy hot chocolates, served with marshmallows!

Thatched Cottage is the ideal country retreat. Whether you are looking for attractive country walks from the cottage or a holiday close to the sea, this is the perfect base for exploring Suffolk.
