About this property

Tucked away down a tree lined driveway this peaceful and homely cottage is just waiting to beckon you to the Suffolk coast at Dunwich. All this, with ground floor accommodation throughout.

Lodge Cottage is a charming bungalow on the edge of the picturesque village of Dunwich. Lovingly furnished to provide all that one could need for a traditional family holiday by the Suffolk coast, this cottage is sure to be a firm favourite. Nestled close to the owners property, Lodge Cottage has the benefit of a both a private driveway and garden area.

The front door opens onto a carpeted hallway with coat hooks and a boot rack - perfect for those intending to explore the numerous footpaths throughout the surrounding area. The sitting room is a large space, so cosy to return home to after day's spent enjoying the Suffolk coast and countryside. With a mixture of sofas and armchairs, there is plenty of room to spread out and read, watch TV or listen to music. A small bookcase provides a selection of mixed genre literature to browse and enjoy. The eagle eyed will be able to spot the glistening waves of the sea in the distance - very subtle, but still equally stunning. The sitting room also houses a generous dining table - excellent for entertaining or merely playing a board game on a winters evening. Further down the hallway you will stumble across the homely kitchen with small breakfast table and a separate cloakroom.

When it's time to retire to bed you certainly will not be disappointed. The twin and double bedroom both come complete with built-in wardrobes and en-suite facilities. The garden is perhaps one of the most stunning features. Approaching the cottage by the tree lined driveway will give you just a flavour of the seclusion you can expect. With snowdrops blooming in early Spring, the driveway is transformed into a semi forest glade. The main garden is laid to lawn and wraps around Lodge Cottage to one side. Keen wildlife lovers should keep their eyes peeled for a rich variety of birds including pheasants as well as deer and badgers that call this intimate surrounding home. We recommend packing a pair of binoculars so you don't miss a thing!

Ideal for: Small families or friends looking to enjoy the intimacy of this stunning area of Suffolk. With ground floor facilities throughout, Lodge Cottage is perfect for those who may struggle with a large amount of stairs.

Sleeps: 4 in 1 double and 1 twin room.

Exploring: You really are spoilt for choice with day trips and activities when you book a stay at Lodge Cottage. For walkers, there is plenty to explore. The beach at Dunwich (mostly shingle) is totally picturesque. From here you can walk to neighbouring Walberswick; known as Chelsea-on-sea, it is a haven for actors, directors, artists and authors, many of whom own second homes in the village. If you prefer a more 'in-land' route, you can also walk to Walberswick via the coastal path. Whilst staying at Lodge Cottage, we strongly recommend a visit to rspb Minsmere and Dunwich Heath (National Trust) - both absolute hot-spots for a plethora of plant and wildlfie. If you're dreaming of a traditional sea side experience then head to either nearby Southwold (20 minute drive) or Aldeburgh (25 minute drive) - each with their own eclectic mix of independent and high street shops and eateries.

Self Catering: Whilst most well known supermarkets should deliver to Lodge Cottage, your closest nearby supermarket can be found in nearby Walberswick. If you're wishing for a selection of local produce, we recommend a trip to Emmerdale Farm Shop in Darsham; offering a wide selection of fruit, vegetables and wares, as well as a mouthwatering selection of homemade cakes.

Eating and drinking out: You won't need to venture far if you wish to dine out. Dunwich is home to the The Ship - a great village pub offering a fantastic menu selection. During most summer months it also hosts a number of outdoor barbecue events; don't miss out! You'll also find a fish and chip shop in the village also. If you fancy a change of scene, head to Westleton, Walberswick, Southwold or Aldeburgh; the culinary offerings are endless!
