"Lovely quiet picturesque location. The owner was very friendly and provided lots of information about places to eat and things to do in the local area. The cottage was full of character, nicely decorated and very comfortable."

"absolutly lovely, clean tidy and perfect place to stay just a bit off the beaten track but the views surrounding the cottage are amazing also a lovely pub just a 10 min walk away.....uphill admmittedly but when you get there the views are even more breathtaking"

"We had a wonderful relaxing holiday. We were made very welcome in the cottage and there were loads of local information leaflets and personal recommendations for places to visit and eat. Only three miles from Alton Towers, close to several National trust Properties, The Potteries, Dovedale for a lovely walk and our favourite The Monkey Forest. The real fire was a boon as it was chilly despite it being August, it made the cottage even more cosy. The local pub within walking distance was great value for money, but it is at the top of a very steep hill!"

"A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting - everything we needed to enjoy days out and evenings in, including lots of info on places to visit, tips from the owner, and all the facilities we needed. June 2012."

"Fairly close to Alton Towers but you would never know it, lovely and peaceful and some lovely walks from the door. Highly recommend The Ramblers Retreat Tea Rooms, Red Road, Dimmingsdale. Sept 2011."

"The location was remote, but very picturesque. We had no idea when we booked that it was only 2 miles from one of the best amusement parks in Europe, Alton Towers. We were then fearful we would see or hear noise from it. No one would ever know it was there, it is so secluded. Our granddaughter and nephew thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, about a mile down the lane in one direction is the remains of a 10th century abbey, another direction up the hill is a great pub with free WI-FI. It is a delightful setting in the countryside. July 2011. "

"Lovely property set in a picturesque setting, very peaceful and no mobile phone reception; major plus if you want to switch off. The wood-buring stove was a major success with our daughter. July 2010. "

"The cottage was everything we wanted, and more, it was a complete delight in that it provided both the comfort of modern amenities together with the cosyness of a country cottage. Brilliant - we will go again. Nov 2009."

"The property was beautifully presented, and milk etc was left ready for us which was a nice touch. It was great to have so many books, games and movies provided as it rained for much of our stay! July 2009."
