Spent a few days in winter at the Badger Plus Lodge. Although spacious, a single room for 4 can get a bit tight. The lodge was clean and well maintained, a hot tub under cover was very good and private. Underfloor heating was nice alhtough takes a while to get going, we arrived when it was almost freezing so the lodge didn't warm up enough, but the staff kindly supplied an electric heater. The TV's in the bedrooms are slightly on the small side and the leather sofas and not the most comfortable. The biggest downfall for us was that there was no mobile phone recption in the lodges anywhere, we had 3 phones on different networks, neither of which worked. So the obvious problem of any emergency occurring, we would be left struggling to even get help. Even to notify reception/staff of any issues is a problem when you can't ring out!Wifi is the same, but you can buy it for £6 per GB and that does work, altough very expensive. The road leading to the lodges is an offroad, rugged terrain, full of huge pot holes, which seems to be an easy fix considering they are having building work done there anyway. There is not a great deal you can do around the vicinity of the lodges.Overall, it was good and we had a relaxing time.

We turned up and was greeted warmly by the on site staff. However the badger number 36 lodge is in a poor state. The initial walk in smell was disgusting. It genuinely stunk of dog urine. The central heating did not work until I managed to sort it out by resetting the system in the outside boiler room because of my plumbing engineer background. The WiFi which you have to pay for did not work throughout the whole stay we were there, even though I was charged at one point but still did not work. The cutlery was dirty, there was dust and cobwebs all over the lodge. The rug, carpets and settee stunk of dog urine and damp. The whole experience was disappointing as booked for a mini-moon and my wife’s 30th birthday. The only plus was the hot tub.

Lodges are secluded, plenty of privacy, well equipped and very cosy.
