Great garden and lovely to have toys left for the children. They loved the bridge over the stream for Pooh sticks. Would stay again.

The accommodation was clean and tidy with nice extra touches including bathrobes & extra towels for the hot tub and a welcome hamper. Downside was the ‘hot tub’ including its cleanliness when we first arrived as it quickly discoloured after one day. Chris, the owner (who was away on holiday when we arrived) quickly rectified that on his return on Monday and the water remained clear right up until the Friday when we left. We did question if it was drained and cleaned before our arrival as when cleaning out the fire grate and found about 40 nails and we had only put in the logs that were provided. The hot tub lid was old, (tatty) heavy and not easy to lift off, or put back on and the nets for cleaning the tub were cheap children’s fishing nets that were literally falling apart. There was a plastic poker??? And plastic shovel??? provided to clean the grate, which along with the old tarpaulin covering the logs right next to the fire, we found poor, especially considering the price paid. Also be aware that the hot tub is not a gas fire as mentioned in a review. Nor is it a facility to let children play by themselves or left unsupervised. One other disappointment was that there was only a cheap set of cube seats (for 4-people) and no facility for an umbrella. ‘Relaxing’ outside would mean using blankets on the grass, Honest review without malice and as stated at the beginning a great base if touring the area.

The owners are literally next door which at first made us anxious about them possibly ‘checking up ‘ on us, but in the end we never saw them unless we requested their help. A beautiful home and setting, lots of walks to be had and a pub within walking distance, bonus. Alton towers a short drive. The hot tub is a scorcher which we loved and enjoyed for hours, definitely not for younger ones. Hamper on arrival was beautiful, along with towels and robes. The ONLY negative we had over the entire weekend was the main bed and sofa bed could do with a new mattress or topper. I’d return with my husband for sure.
