Spend the day exploring the coast line at Bowleaze or walk along the seafront esplanade to Weymouth’s golden sandy beach, bustling harbour and seafront attractions promise classic seaside fun. Family favourites such as SEA LIFE, Monkey World, and The Tank Museum are all within easy reach, alongside scenic countryside walks and woodland trails. The cottage has direct access onto Lorton Meadows nature reserve, you can easily hike across Lodmoor Country Park, or go bird watching from RSPB Lodmoor, Lodmoor Country Park, whilst Bowleaze Cove and the Nothe Fort both present stunning coastal vistas. Travel into the Dorset AONB, stopping off at the lofty landscape of Chesil Beach, located along the West Dorset Heritage Coast, before heading to the Abbotsbury Swannery and the Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens for a day out. Round off your break by heading for Dorchester, firstly discovering the Maiden Castle hiking area, ahead of touring the Dorset Museum, and National Trust nurtured, Max Gate.

A short drive takes you to Portland Harbour, and the rugged “Isle” of Portland, linked to Weymouth by the dramatic Chesil Beach. Visit Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s “Casterbridge”, only 7 miles away, or take a journey along the scenic coastal road and call in at Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens. Alternatively, just head down to West Bay - the views of the stunning Dorset Heritage Coastline are not to be missed!
