Cannon's Folly in Torpoint, Cornwall, is a well-received apartment with stunning views of Plymouth Sound. Guests have praised its comfortable furnishings, cosy atmosphere, and the thoughtful touches like cream tea on arrival. The location offers tranquillity and proximity to coastal walks, though access may challenge those with mobility issues. The unique setting in an old fort adds to the charm, making it a favoured spot for a peaceful getaway.
The majority of guests found the apartment to be very clean and tidy. There were a few mentions of dust and a mould issue in the shower, but these seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm.
The location is highly praised for its stunning sea views and peaceful setting. It offers easy access to coastal paths and is within reach of local attractions. The secluded nature and the historical significance of the fort add to the appeal.
Guests have consistently noted the apartment's comfort, especially the quality of the bed and linens. Some concerns were raised about heating and the size of the fridge, but overall, the apartment is considered cosy and well-furnished.
The apartment is generally well-equipped, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a non-working DVD player, scratched saucepans, and a small storage heater. The lack of access to certain amenities like a swimming pool was also noted.
Guests have appreciated the thoughtful gestures, such as the provision of cream tea on arrival and a Christmas hamper. However, it should be noted that such gifts are subject to the owner's discretion and may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Cannon's Folly is a stylish studio apartment in Fort Picklecombe, the striking 19th century former fort looking over the sea. With amazing views all around along the Devon and Cornwall coasts, it is a fascinating spot to sit and watch the nautical world go by (binoculars provided). Leave your boots and coats in the hall and head into the beautifully finished open plan living space with sofa bed where you can sit and observe the ever-changing scene of passing ships and the light shining over the waves. Sliding open the doors to the balcony will bring the outside in. The double bedroom is separated from the living area, from here you can take the opportunity to lie in bed and gaze at that view. Bring your water sports and walking gear, which can be left in the outer hall, giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beaches and sailing opportunities around pretty Kingsand and Cawsand, as well as walking the fabulous Mount Edgcumbe estate with its grand house and extensive gardens. For the vibrant buzz of Plymouth, it's easy to catch a pedestrian ferry or the car ferry to the Ocean City, where you can go to the theatre, shop, eat out and visit the National Marine Aquarium. With all this within convenient reach, as well as those timeless sea views to linger over, Cannon's Folly really is a stunning destination.
Kingsand is one of two twin villages in Cornwall, England, and is situated on the Rame Peninsula and the Cawsand Bay. One of its most notable features is the clock tower, situated at the seafront.

The only slight niggles were that we had booked for three people but there was only bedding for two people. We eventually managed to find some more bedding in a couple of cupboards but had to hunt around for a clean duvet cover. The fridge is very noisy, but it says a lot about how much we loved this place that these minor irritations didn't really spoil our experience. Would definitely return.

Everything you need is provided by Paul including milk and biscuits which was much appreciated after a long drive. Would highly recommend.
