Guests say

Guests appreciate the lodge's secluded and peaceful setting in Cornwall, with its proximity to nature and local attractions. The hot tub and on-site restaurant are highlights, contributing to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. While some guests mention areas for improvement, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While bedding and bathrooms are generally satisfactory, several guests have noted issues with kitchen cleanliness, dust, and cobwebs. Some also reported sticky surfaces and the need for a deeper clean in certain areas.

The location is highly praised for its tranquility, natural surroundings, and proximity to local sights. Guests enjoy the privacy and the sound of the stream, enhancing the lodge's appeal as a peaceful retreat.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the lodge cosy and the beds comfortable. However, some guests have suggested improvements to the sofas and mattresses, and noted issues with light in the bedrooms affecting sleep quality.

Facilities are appreciated, especially the hot tub and well-equipped kitchen. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as a broken washing machine and dishwasher problems. The on-site restaurant is a plus, though some guests were disappointed with its availability.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

About this property

8 Streamside is a contemporary lodge, nestled in to the edge of woodland on the 28 acres of Stonerush Lakes and flanked by a stream. Only two miles from Lanreath in Cornwall, it is a perfect base for couples, friends, and families exploring the region and relaxing in the peaceful countryside. The cosy lodge opens out on to a secluded decked terrace, with a sunken hot tub, and the floor to ceiling windows carry the woodland idyll inside as well as inviting light in through the open plan living, dining, and kitchen area and the bedrooms of the lodge. The kitchen is well-equipped for whipping up family meals, and you can gather around the table inside or make use of the outside furniture and eat alfresco on the private terrace.

With enough comfy seating in the living area for everyone, it is easy to get cosy by the woodburner or settle after a long day of exploring the region. The master bedroom has a touch of luxury with its own Freeview TV, a modern en-suite shower room, and a plush king-size bed. Along the hall is a comfortable twin bedroom, and a family bathroom with both bath and shower over. Stonerush Lakes has The Old Mill, its own restaurant and bar, on site serving high quality regional fare, and a pool table and darts available to use there too. The nearby village of Lanreath has a community run village shop, and there is a wealth of traditional country pubs in the vicinity to take advantage of.

The site has plenty of local walks right from the doorstep and, only a short trip further afield, Looe, Fowey, and Polperro are all archetypal Cornish coastal destinations, with easy access to beautiful heritage coastline and great beaches. A perfect base for exploring the surrounding area, this stylish lodge is ideal for relaxing together, be it in the hot tub, tucked up in front of the woodburner, or cosied up in bed watching the woodland outside.

Lanreath is a village in South East Cornwall, just five miles from Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe.

They’re all pretty similar but this one is below standard and needs refurbishment. Lower-than-average kitchen equipment, worn out mattress (resolved quickly by management company), mould over bedroom Velux and en-suite ceiling, mould on living room curtains. No seats for outdoor table and the decking is reduced in size from what’s on the photos. There’s no longer a side section to it. The sofas are very uncomfortable and also need replacing. Septic tank odour at entrance is unpleasant. Steps leading to entrance were slippery and need re-surfacing.

The hot tub was just perfect to unwind weary bones and destress busy minds. It was pretty cold walking from the hot tub back to the lodge though, as although there were dressing gowns supplied (nice touch by the way), there was nowhere to hang them. Additionally, we didn’t want the rain to stop us using the hot tub (inevitably there will always be rain!), so some sort of cover would have been perfect. We will definitely be back, the serenity and opportunity to completely disconnect with the treadmill of everyday life was priceless. Thank you
