About this property

About 2 miles from the little hamlet of Gulworthy, surrounded by woodland is Rock View Cottage. This detached stone-built single-storey cottage, with your own 4-person hot tub, once served nearby Wheal Josiah, the now abandoned, but one time richest copper mine in Europe. The cottage has been thoughtfully restored, lime-rendered walls and oak floors complement the stylish decor, creating a luxurious and rustic feel. Ceiling-high, glazed bi-fold doors flood the sitting room with light. There's a little dining area, a wood burning stove and a smart kitchen. The double bedroom has a huge bed, demanding long lie-ins and easy starts, and the lavish bathroom has a fabulous roll-top bath. Outside is a private woodland garden with a table, chairs and barbecue - an idyllic spot to unwind. Beyond the garden are acres of woodland and the Tamar Trails activity centre for walking/cycling around 20 minutes walk away. Nearby are the historic market town of Tavistock, The Nat. Trust's Cotehele House, Buckland Abbey and Morwellham Quay location of the BBC's 'Edwardian Farm'. Further afield, Plymouth has shops, theatres, the Nat. Marine Aquarium and historic Barbican. Rock View Cottage is a peaceful and picturesque retreat where you can choose to do as little or as much as you wish.

A delightful award-winning market town on the River Tavy, nestling in the south-west slopes of Dartmoor. Tavistock has an indoor pannier market, a diverse range of shops, an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema, as well as a leisure pool.

Tucked away on the edge of the Tamar Trails where you will find acres of woodland walks right on your doorstep you are able to totally immerse yourself in nature and have a ‘reset’ from life back home. The cottage is beautiful and so warm with underfloor heating in every room. The hot tub is definitely the icing on the cake and we spent every evening relaxing under the starry skies. If you are looking for total chill out relaxation reading a book in front of the log burner then look no further, however if you love to walk in the woods or explore the Dartmoor national park then this is the absolute perfect place for you too. Thank you Nick & Karen for your hospitality and hopefully we will see you again next year!

Well stocked with wood and well heated. Very kind to provide hot drinks dry goods and milk on arrival. The cottage was very clean and in good working order. Games and maps provided too. Hot tub was a lovely addition to the property. Useful cottage guides with all the recommended local amenities and walks. Help with finding the property as needed and just over the road if there are any issues. Feels secluded but shops and town only a 10 minute drive. Highly recommend this place and would happily come again.

Spotlessly clean, a very comfortable bed. Hot tub was a lovely bonus. It was nice to light the woodburner and have a cosy night. Prefect place to escape and relax. We enjoyed the woodpecker, the cheeky squirrel and so many birds enjoy the bird feeder, nice to just sit and watch nature at its best.
