Penwarne Lodge is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its beautiful, peaceful setting and clean, comfortable interiors. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like cream teas on arrival, and the property's location offers a good base for exploring Cornwall. While some minor maintenance issues and the lack of a secure garden for dogs were noted, the overall experience is one of tranquillity and enjoyment, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with several reviews noting it as spotless and well-maintained. However, there were isolated comments about the need for a deeper clean in certain areas, slightly lowering the score.
The location is highly praised for its peacefulness and proximity to local attractions, with many guests appreciating the quiet, secluded setting and the scenic gardens. The only drawback mentioned is the rough access track.
Guests find the property comfortable, highlighting the quality of the beds and the cosy atmosphere, especially with the log burner. Some guests mentioned issues with dampness and a cold atmosphere at times, which slightly affects the score.
The facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good standard bedrooms. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as stiff door handles, a dripping tap, and TV reception problems, which impact the score.
The property management is commended for thoughtful gestures like providing cream teas and logs for the fire. While these gifts are warmly received, it is politely noted that such offerings are not guaranteed for every stay.

Penwarne Lodge is perfectly located for discovering the North Helford and an ideal choice for a romantic break or tranquil family holiday.
Mawnan Smith on the northern banks of the Helford estuary is a great base to explore all of west and central Cornwall. It is a small village with a popular 17th Century 'thatched' pub (the Red Lion), restaurant and shops, also a working forge and craft centre. Developed as a distribution centre for goods and produce for the Lizard Peninsula. With the village acting as a staging post for materials that were to be ferried across the Helford River - to the Lizard Peninsula. The "Old Smithy" has recently been restored by the Anvil Trust, to recreate a working smithy in the village. Mawnan Smith is close to Maenporth Beach and the Helford Estuary ideally situated in a quiet Corner of Cornwall, with Falmouth town centre, Harbour and Attractions nearby.

Well appointed property with everything needed. Added bonus of guided garden tour with gardener, Simon, well worth booking. Would like to go back and stay again when the rhododendrons are in flower.

Superb location. Very comfy beds! Access to drive to property could do with some work but not to bad. Will definitely book for next year.

We really loved this property. The House was welcoming, clean and beautiful from the out and inside. Warm welcoming with scones and jam. Great kitchen with garden views. The garden was so beautiful. Quite , absolut privat. Our dog loved to go out and sitting with us in the garden. Bed was comfy. Never slept so good in a holiday cottage. Had my Birthday here. Enjoy also some rainy days inside. Hope we can come back in the future.
