Set on a 160 kilometre National Trail, the lodge makes just the base for walkers keen to stretch their legs and see as much of the scenery as possible, and with carpets of bluebells and meadows of wildflowers as a backdrop depending on the season, every walk is one to remember. Who knows…you may even spot a red kite soaring high above.

There is so much to do and see in this area, from walking, cycling or horse riding across the Downs, exploring wildlife in the wetlands, visiting one of the many heritage sites to experiencing opera at the world famous Glyndebourne.
The site is adjacent to Hassocks community football club, it is likely guests will hear some low level match noise during games.

I stayed at Maple Lodge for four nights in late November, not as a holiday, but to break a little writer's block. It worked like a charm. I found a very high quality, eco-friendly, well-appointed lodge waiting for me. There was a warm and friendly reception, lovely welcome basket, comfortable bed, gorgeous wood burner and a magical view of Ditchling Beacon. I saw the warnings about possible noise for the football pitch but it was very quiet indeed. Highly recommend Maple Lodge if you are looking to connect with the beauty and mystery of our Southern Downs from a luxurious vantage point.

The thought of taking two under fives for a weekend to attend a family wedding was viewed with trepidation. maple Lodge was a perfect base for a young family. The welcome pack was amazing, and a warm welcome on a rainy. Friday in July. The lodge was spotlessly clean, the towels and Facillities generous. A very comfortable weekend, a short stroll from the station and the garden centre cafe was a brilliant addition. The garden provided a lovely open space with the downs in view for the youngsters to enjoy. Both tranquil, modern and well presented. We all really felt we had got away from it all Thank you, we cannot recommend it enough!

We spent 3 weeks staying in 'Maple Lodge'. The lodge itself is beautifully appointed and brand new inside. It instantly felt home from home. We've stayed in lodges previously in the new forest, and this lodge far exceeded our expectations. The owners couldn't do enough to help if we needed it, and also provided a most welcome 'welcome basket' upon arrival which was a very nice touch. There are currently only 3 lodges on the site and they have been positioned to provide virtually total privacy. Lovely views of the South Downs from the lodges. The lodge's location is a 15 minute walk from Hassocks station which is on the main London to Brighton line so you could easily use public transport to see the area, however I would say having a car here makes it much easier to explore the area, plus the nearest supermarkets, shops and pubs are a reasonable walk away if you are having to carry heavy shopping bags. The only things that we could think to improve the site further would be private outdoor hot-tubs for each lodge, and also a children's play area somewhere in the grounds for children to burn off some energy. Overall we spent avert enjoyable 3 weeks here and would certainly recommend the lodges.
