There are photographs on the wall that record the conversion from a totally dilapidated farm building into this wonderful ground and first floor granary that welcomes you. In a private setting at the end of a long unmade lane, Cuckfield Granary sits amongst a small organic farm and offers many walks from the doorstep and is just a short stroll into the picturesque mid Sussex town of Cuckfield.
One of the highlights of the granary is the first floor terrace and the panoramic views it offers towards the South Downs in the distance. It is presented to an exceptional standard. The kitchen is a wonderful social space with a woodburning stove and relaxing sofa. The two upstairs bedrooms each have their own facilities with a bath and hand held shower attachment to the main bedroom and an ensuite shower room to the second bedroom. Both bedrooms are doubles, with the principal bedroom containing a king sized bed, and the second bedroom a standard sized double.
There is also a sofa bed in the living room should extra flexibility be required for guests.
Outside you will enjoy the terrace. Perfect for meals on those lazy summer days!
Cuckfield and beyond
Cuckfield is one of the prettiest small towns in Sussex. Being so central in the county it is ideally situated to explore much that Sussex has to offer. Within two miles Borde Hill Gardens have been described by Country Life magazine as one of the country’s truly great gardens. The gardens offer outstanding views across 200 acres of Grade II listed parkland and woodland.
Head north into the rolling Sussex Weald and you soon reach Ardingly Reservoir . It is a large expanse of natural water and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are plentiful walks around the reservoir and for those who enjoy watersports it is a haven of activity for sailors, windsurfers and canoeists.
Access to and from this part of mid Sussex is excellent with other gardens such as Nymans and High Beeches just a few miles to the north and Wakehurst Place with its close association with Kew is within a fifteen minute drive to the east. With good communication links to Brighton, both the south coast and the South Downs are a short distance away while a day trip to London by rail is so easy from nearby Haywards Heath.

This was a relatively long term stay (6 weeks) as we were relocating to the UK from Dubai and wanted a temporary location that was close to my place of work and central to regional property searches. The property was ideally located for that.The owner was very accommodating with regard to having a dog in the property. Lovely location. It was a shame that the weather wasn't conducive to us being able to sit out on the verandah area sipping gin & tonics while watching the sun set - but then it was in the middle of a UKwinter!! The potatoes purchased from the adjacent farm shop were to die for......

The cottage was amazing and so perfect. The walk to town every morning is great. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. I look forward to coming back next year.
