About this property

Looking for a relaxing time away? Then try this delightful holiday cottage beside the River Adur

How often do you hear directions like 'right to the end of the lane until you can go no further?' Well that is how we will be directing you to River Cottage! This wonderful converted stable is very rural and just a short stroll to the River Adur which winds its way south to the English Channel at Shoreham by Sea.

For those wanting a complete getaway this is a perfect location. With footpaths from the door and a great rural walk over the river to the nearest pub this is the ideal setting for a very restful break.

Set in the grounds of the owners' farmhouse, River Cottage is peaceful and private. The accommodation is on one level and is superbly presented throughout for up to four guests. Taking the shape of the letter 'L' there are two wings where the living space is separated from the bedroom area. The two bedrooms are a good size with built in wardrobes so plenty of storage space. The main bedroom has a king sized double bed and a dual aspect looking onto the flower gardens. There are two shower rooms, one between both bedrooms, the second next to the living room. The twin bedroom has a small window that overlooks the very end of the lane or maybe more appropriately the bridleway that continues on towards the river. All told it is a great setting.

Henfield and beyond

Henfield is an attractive small market town, with a choice of independent and individual shops. It's an interesting little town to explore and to enjoy a coffee perusing the morning papers!

Walk or cycle on The Downs Link along the old railway line from Henfield and head north towards the old station at West Grinstead station or south towards the Downs and Steyning and enjoy some beautiful scenery as it follows the line of the Adur.

Barely five miles to the south is the popular vantage point of Devil’s Dyke and the picturesque Sussex villages of Poynings and Fulking nestle beneath it at the foot of the Downs. These villages give wonderful views of the Fulking Escarpment so head west towards Bramber and Upper Beeding as the South Downs are certainly worth enjoying from here.

From the top of the South Downs the chalk hills slope away towards Brighton. It is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city. The Palace Pier and Sea Life centre is an enjoyable day for young families while for adults the decadence of the Royal Pavillion, once the summer home to the Prince Regent, is worth seeing along with the nearby and very famous Brighton Lanes. Brighton is a hub for entertainment with a wide range of restaurants, bars and eateries., it’s a great family city, yet returning to the seclusion of River Cottage is never more than a twenty minute drive away.
