About this property

Enjoy a relaxing city break in this charming cottage in the heart of Chichester with lots of character and a woodburning stove.

Within the Chichester city walls, this charming Grade II listed terraced cottage makes the perfect city break. Chichester’s historic city wall has been largely restored around many parts of the city and this cosy cottage is right opposite the north wall. A two minute walk from the Chichester Festival Theatre and with Chichester’s boutique shops, bars and restaurants on your doorstep this is the ideal place to stay to experience the city fully.

North Walls Cottage has lovely period features, much character and a wonderful ambience. You’ll enjoy the traditional wooden floors, steep cottage staircases and the woodburning stove on those chilly autumn evenings and winter nights. The cottage is arranged over three floors and will sleep four in two double bedrooms. The top floor bedroom also has a small trundle bed (available at a supplement) so for a young family it can sleep five.

The bathroom is on the first floor and has both a bath and an electric shower that is fitted above. Outside there is a very small patio, however, as the cottage is so wonderfully central we think you’ll enjoy alfresco dining at the city’s bars and restaurants instead.

Chichester and beyond

Chichester is one of the great, most well-preserved Georgian cities in the UK. The city’s broad streets are packed with Listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral, it is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. There are many things to do and experience in the city such as the South Downs Planetarium, Chichester Cathedral and the Pallant House Gallery and Chichester is also home to the famous Festival Theatre. It is renowned for its quality of productions as well as featuring many world premieres. We have a link to the theatre from our website under “What’s On”.

Head out of the city and a couple of miles to the south is Chichester Harbour. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a plethora of wildlife that shares this delightful area with the sailing activity that abounds. The harbour is made up of a series of tidal creeks and Bosham is probably the best known of the quayside villages and offers much of interest. Itchenor and Dell Quay are similar quayside villages where it is just enjoyable to go there and take in the activity that goes on.

With the Goodwood Motor Circuit and Aerodrome a short 10 minute drive away, you can take the opportunity to attend one of the many events that are held here or experience a flight over the stunning Sussex countryside in a light aircraft. Venture further north to the South Downs, and Trundle Hill offers spectacular views back to the city as well as a great view over Goodwood Racecourse.

A short drive of twenty minutes and you can be enjoying the wonderful Blue Flag beach at West Wittering with clean, sandy beaches as far as the eye can see and clear views across to Hayling Island and beyond. A lovely day can be spent roaming the sand dunes, crab pools and the National Trust area of East Head.
