Modern city centre living in the heart of Chichester — a perfect apartment for four
Roman Quarter is a very impressive recently developed apartment that offers comfortable modern living. On the doorstep is everything this wonderful historic city has to offer, yet it is tucked away in the tranquil setting beside the tree lined East Walls. This is a two bedroomed ground floor apartment with a double and a twin bedroom appointed to a very high standard that immediately feels welcoming when you step through the door. It is well laid out offering full ensuite facilities and a very comfortable living area and fully equipped kitchen. Outside the living area there is a small terrace with table and two chairs.
It is a pleasant walk down a choice of lanes into the very heart of Chichester where you can experience a city fused with a blend of modern and historic. The Market Cross at the very centre is where the four main city streets converge offering fine shopping and the choice of many restaurants, coffee shops and bars. There is plenty to occupy you here for a short break, or stay a little longer and venture out to explore the South Downs and Chichester Harbour both very close at hand.
Chichester and beyond
Chichester is one of the great well-preserved Georgian cities in the UK. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city’s broad streets are packed with Listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral now home to a family of peregrine falcons who swoop over the city at dusk.
The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle.
Chichester is also home to the famous Festival Theatre. It is renowned for its quality of productions as well as featuring many world premieres. We have a link to the theatre from our website under “What’s On”.
A couple of miles south west of the city you come to Chichester Harbour. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with a plethora of wildlife that shares this delightful area with the sailing activity that abounds. The harbour is made up of a series of tidal creeks and Bosham (pronounced Bozzum) is probably the best known of the quayside villages and offers much of interest. The coast road round to the quay floods twice daily giving Bosham a changing outlook between low and high water. The church which is prominent in the village dates back to Saxon times, the earliest parts having been constructed during King Canute’s reign. Bosham is always bustling and is a joy to visit. The arts and craft centre, a popular visitor attraction contains many small craft shops and the Anchor Bleu pub which is so central to the village and overlooks the creek is very popular for lunches. Itchenor and Dell Quay are similar quayside villages where it is just enjoyable to absorb the activity that goes on.
Venture north to the South Downs, and Trundle Hill offers spectacular views back to the city as well as a great view over Goodwood Racecourse and the wonderful Downland hills that make this an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is an area that has much to offer and it is worth enjoying both Chichester and these wonderful surroundings.
