About this property

Large family holiday home near Littlehampton with upstairs sitting room to take in the sea views to best advantage

If you are looking for a spacious holiday home for a family, within yards of the beach, then look no further. Sea House is just a short distance from the beach at Rustington, and from the upstairs sitting room there are ever changing views of the sea through floor to ceiling windows that fill the whole wall.

The house is great for families, with three bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs. There is a double bedroom, a twin and a bedroom with bunk beds on the ground floor, together with a shower room with large shower, ideal for washing off the salt after a swim at the beach. Upstairs as well as the large living room, with more than enough seating for the whole family to enjoy, there is a double bedroom with king sized bed, a bathroom and a well equipped kitchen.

Outside there is a small back garden, and of course acres of beach within a short walk.

Rustington and beyond

Rustington is just east of Littlehampton on the Sussex coast, with Worthing and Brighton further east again. Nearby Climping Beach, just across the River Arun from Littlehampton, is a beautiful length of unspoilt beach designated as of Special Scientific Interest. At the eastern end of the beach beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach Café built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally. It is worth a visit, the fish and chips come highly recommended!

A short drive north of Rustington the South Downs are completely accessible with many fine walks from the neighbouring villages of Patching and Burpham. To reach the South Downs Way there is a steady climb giving views back to the coast while the crescent shaped chalk escarpment at Long Furlong provides most wonderful coastal and downland views over a broad panorama.

Five and a half miles to the north west is the historic town of Arundel. It is dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tearooms. It’s a great place to wander and just enjoy its hospitality.

Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. The climb to the top of the 11th Century Keep is 131 steps, but the effort is rewarded by amazing views over Arundel and The South Downs.

Beyond the castle grounds Arundel Park extends north towards the Downs offering many fine walks. A two mile walk to the top affords fantastic downland views and south to the coast.

The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds, Arundel Wildfowl and Wetland Trust attracts some of the world’s most spectacular ducks, geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the Black Rabbit pub or proceeding further north where the river hugs the scarp wooded slope at the foot of the Downs before reaching Amberley.

Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well.

Also at Goodwood each year the Goodwood Festival of Speed is held towards the end of June, and Goodwood Revival takes place each September. For fans of motor sport, be it vintage or modern, why not combine a visit to Goodwood with the rest of your holiday?

To the east Worthing Pier is eight miles away while the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove is within a thirty minute drive.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sea House. We travelled from Nashville TN to the UK for a family wedding and the house really was a home away home. It was clean, tidy, spacious and beautifully equipped with everything we could possibly need. Waking up to the view of the beach every morning was such a treat. I would thoroughly recommend Sea House and we would definitely stay there again.

Perfect base for exploring the area and well equipped for the seven of us. Really enjoyed our 'upside down' house for the duration of our stay and loved that the beach was across the road.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sea House! The cake and milk left were a very nice welcome and is very well equipped. The location was perfect and I can highly recommend the Honeypot Café for breakfast! We would definitely recommend Sea House to anyone who is looking for a seaside holiday house.
