About this property

Perfect for a family holiday, this wonderful West Sussex beach house sits in a relaxing and private garden

A mere 150 metres from the beach and enjoying wonderful private gardens on a private bay estate, Little Timbers is the perfect home to enjoy a relaxing family break at any time during the year. Built in the 1930's and often known as a 'Hansel and Gretel' cottage through its appearance the house offers very comfortable accommodation for six guests. It forms part of the beautiful and private Aldwick Bay Estate that adjoins a private beach between Bognor Regis and Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve.

Little Timbers certainly catches the eye. The striking sun room on the front terrace provides a perfect space for morning coffee and the upstairs verandah adds light and space to a striking principal bedroom. The main living room which sits behind the sun room is a great and light space for six people to relax in comfort. In summer though the gardens will appeal, professionally maintained in keeping with the whole estate, we know guests will want to enjoy their time outside as long as they can and especially as the beach is so close by.

The three bedrooms are all upstairs. The principal bedroom to the front has a double bed while the second bedroom overlooking the rear garden has twin beds. Bedroom three is fitted with adult bunk beds. Both the second and third bedroom also have their own wash basins. The family bathroom is fitted with a large shower bath and there is a cloakroom downstairs as well. During the summer an outside toilet is also available for guests to use.

Aldwick and beyond

The Aldwick Bay Estate is adjacent to a private beach in Aldwick. It offers a relaxed setting which appears caught in a peaceful time capsule between the bustle of Bognor Regis three miles to the east and the utter tranquility of Pagham and Pagham Harbour a mile or two to the west. This part of the coastline is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife with Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour a little further to the west both being areas of outstanding natural beauty. Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor and Bosham. Between these harbours there are also beaches at Selsey and the Witterings, so a choice of other fine beaches is not far from Little Timbers.

Chichester the cathedral city of Sussex is not more than five miles away. It has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre production many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.

Fantastic location for a family holiday - a quiet tree-lined road of beautiful houses and gardens yet so near to the beach and walking distance of village shops for everyday needs. The garden was a real asset. The kitchen equipment was comprehensive - even down to a teacosy, which is a rarity nowadays. There was an excellent drying cupboard and plenty of hot water.
