About this property

Appin Cottage is just so cute! Set down a quiet lane on the edge of the very attractive village of Shipton under Wychwood, and with Burford (3 miles) and Chipping Norton a short drive up the road, you are right in the heart of the Cotswolds. Not only that, but those with a taste for all things swish can either pop to Daylesford Organic Farm which is about 10 mins away or alternatively you can gorge yourself at the multitude of top notch pubs in the vicinity, all convenient enough for a walk (long or short!) Inside, Appin is a cosy rural retreat with snug woodburning stove which will keep you toasty all year round and large bedroom upstairs that you can soak up the views without so much as lifting your head off the pillow! The cottage is just spot on for a couple looking for a break and who fancy a little exploring - from this location you can do as little or as much as you wish.

Shipton Under Wychwood is a short drive away from the ancient town of Chipping Norton. Chipping Norton boasts a popular weekly market, numerous book and antique shops, many cafes, restaurants and pubs serving excellent food and local ales, art galleries, a museum and a thriving theatre. Chipping Norton is surrounded by the pretty limestone villages of the Cotswolds and offers many walks and cycle trails from the town centre, together with a Lido, perfect for a relaxing swim at the end of a busy day. Blenheim Palace, Rousham House and Gardens and numerous National Trust properties are close by.

Perfectly placed for visiting the Cotswolds. It has everything you need and we certainly felt at home. Pretty Burford is a matter of minutes away. We also visited Blenheim Palace for their Christmas market and Sleeping Beauty display. Beautiful but expensive. I loved it though. We visited the Wychwood pub which was nice. The Lamb, also nearby, is the quintessential Cotswold pub tho we did have a rather unpleasant interaction by email with the pub owner who was extremely rude and offensive. This apart we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Appin cottage and would definitely return though we will probably avoid The Lamb!
