Straw barn, joint with its partner the Hay Barn is a great place to come with family or friends to share the relaxing and secluded spot.
Straw Barn is tucked away in a secluded spot in the lovely unspoiled countryside of the Weald of Kent, close to the National Trust village of Chiddingstone. It has been tastefully converted into a charming, contemporary cottage, decorated in calm, neutral colours. The airy living accommodation with high-beamed ceilings gives a wonderful sense of space, and it is comfortably furnished with a mixture of new and traditional pieces to give a pleasing country effect. The added luxury of under- floor heating makes this property suitable for all year-round holidays.
The accommodation has a 4 Star Rating under the Visit Britain Quality in Tourism scheme. Being on ground floor only, has wide doors, some wall-rails and no internal steps, Straw Barn qualifies also under its Accessibility scheme as suitable for older & less mobile guests.

This was a delightful place to stay. I was wanting to experience the english spring in the heart of the Kent countryside and this was perfect. Piers was welcoming and so helpful. If I do return to the UK again I will be back here.

Spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, quiet. We had an excellent holiday based there. The only drawback for us was the low water pressure in the shower - but that would not be enough to stop us coming back another time.

Straw Barn is a delightful converted barn on a working farm. The cottage is adequately furnished to accommodate 4 people in two bedrooms which both have comfortable zip-and-link beds. In the bathroom there is an 'aquability' bath for the less mobile, an overhead shower with plenty of water pressure and also handrails. Clothes storage is a little tight, but adequate, and the kitchen is well equipped for simple meals. The barn is under the Gatwick flightpath and suffers from some noise for a short time every day, but neither of us found it intrusive. Mostly, it was peaceful; we heard lots of lovely birdsong including a Cuckoo in the surrounding woods, which were heavily carpeted with bluebells and there is a duck pond on the farm. The owner kindly left us with some local produce to help with our evening meals. Overall, it is a cosy cottage in an ideal location for lots of the local National Trust Houses and we would certainly love to return.
