About this property

La Plage is a traditional cottage overlooking the sea, in the picturesque village of Walmer on the East Kent Coast which can provide the perfect base for a delightful getaway. Between the cottage and the sea is a large village green area on which children and dogs can enjoy playing. A few hundred yards further is the beach where you can dip in the sea or watch boats racing from the sailing club. Children, pets or elderly people can easily and safely use the pedestrian promenade and cycle track which are well away from the road, and go into Deal town centre or wander the other way to Kingsdown in complete tranquillity. Young children will also enjoy the paddling pool, 5 minutes' walk away at the other end of the green. La Plage is well located on a bus route with two nice pubs within 3 minute's walk. There are several food shops within a 1-minute walk and a wine shop 2 doors away! The Strand has many other interesting shops as you walk towards Deal, where you will find a wealth of pubs, restaurants, cafes, quirky independent shops, and quaint narrow streets to explore. Deal recently won the Daily Telegraph's first 'High Street of the Year' award. Upon entering the property, you are welcomed into a cosy sitting room, with plenty of comfortable seating for family or friends. The adjoining dining and recreation room has a large table, with a well appointed galley kitchen leading off it. A second toilet and wash basin will also be found here. Outside is a private patio back yard which catches the sun, with table and chairs for summer meals or evening drinks. Upstairs, the front twin bedroom has a large bay window with table and armchairs where you could have breakfast or evening drinks, enjoying the views of the green, beach and the sea. At the back is a well presented double bedroom, leading to a walk-in-wardrobe area and a sunny bathroom with bath and shower over. La Plage is a wonderful property for exploring Kent.

Walmer is a quiet, residential town resting on the coast, within the district of Dover. Sharing a number of amenities with the neighbouring town, Deal the town plays host to a wealth of pubs, restaurants, shop and a thriving high street to explore. Whilst here, you can explore the iconic White Cliffs of Dover and miles of Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

With scaffolding front and back. The court yard is full of building debris and so is the front door so you have to be careful, you of your dog doesn’t get hit. So quite impossible to enjoy your morning coffee in the sun . Having to disappear all day to escape the noise. Would love to return when both sides have finished but it’s been a long time and and they tell me quite a few months left . So if some peace and quite and no one looking in your bedroom and bathroom window in the morning is what your looking for don’t book it until it’s all over .

About a brisk ten minute walk into Deal where there were plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants plus a train station. Good rail and bus links which enabled us to do linear walks and return on public transport with a tired dog. We enjoyed sitting in the sunny back yard, or upstairs in the bay window from where there was a super view out to sea and less traffic noise from the busy road. No problem parking as we always found a space near to the property. Very well equipped kitchen with a useful porch leading off it, ideal for dog basket and bowls. Upstairs was fine for just two of us as the bathroom was accessed through the rear bedroom but would be awkward for two couples. Ample storage space in both bedrooms.
