    About this property

This is the ideal location for walking enthusiasts, with nearby walks across beautiful countryside to the coast.
The properties are peacefully located in a superb scenic area near to the delightful village of Droxford, which sits in the beautiful Meon Valley and the South Downs National Park. These three carefully converted single storey properties (refs UKC2760, UKC2761 and UKC2762) have been thoughtfully and tastefully styled throughout. Each property has a wood burner, and a super kingsize Hypnos bed, which can be separated to make twin beds. There is a shared bike/boot store/utility room, private parking for 2 cars per property, and an enclosed patio and lawned garden area. Guests have the added benefit of enjoying the superb Victorian walled garden adjacent. Here you can spend time meandering and savour the beautiful landscaped gardens with croquet lawn, seating areas and ever changing plants, shrubs and trees through the seasons. For those wishing to enjoy calm and serenity this makes the perfect retreat. There is also a livery opposite which guests are welcome to use by prior arrangement with the owner.
Both Garden Cottage and Stable Cottage have superb far reaching views over countryside where sheep, deer, various birds (including buzzards, pheasant and owls), can be observed, and all three barn conversions have access to superb walks less than two minutes from the door! The disused Meon Valley railway line is 11 miles long, ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is easy access onto this and the properties are set approximately half way between Wickham and West Meon. The Wayfarers Walk can also be joined at Chalk Hill, Soberton. This a 71-mile trail runs from Inkpen Beacon in the north of the county to the sea at Emsworth. There are also easy links to the South Downs National Park and also nearby is Bere Forest, a 100-acre woodland area with walks and play areas. The River Meon is close by and is ideal for trout fishing and there are various golf clubs within the area. There is a lovely country pub just 550 yards from the properties, and many other popular pubs and inns within a 5 mile radius. There is a lovely historic church adjacent to the pub. West Meon is about a 5-minute drive, with pubs serving great food and where the founder of Lords cricket rests. Wickham and Bishops Waltham are about 6 miles away, with an array of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Places to visit within easy reach include Winchester cathedral, the New Forest, Chichester and beaches at Hayling Island. Portsmouth with the Spinnaker Tower, waterside dining, museums, art galleries, theatre, retail shopping designer outlets and day trips to the Isle of Wight, all within a 30-minute drive. There is a golf course 2 miles away, and fishing, walking, birdwatching riding and cycling are all close by – making this the ideal choice for those who enjoy the outdoors. Beach 12 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 550 yards.

"Absolutely loved our week away! Fabulous cottage. Gil is amazing and has created an awesome retreat. Will be back!"
    Shirley ‐ 19 Oct 2018
"Excellent cottage & grounds especially as we were able to use the 6 acre secure field for our two labs. Would definitely return & hopefully next time we will rent all three cottages for the whole family!"

"This is a lovely cottage, very clean, comfortable beds and very nicely furnished. We enjoyed our stay with our dog and the owner is very friendly and helpful. There were thoughtful touches like a boot room, a laundry room and a freezer with a drawer for each cottage. There is space outside to sit and the dog had her own little garden. A big garden is not necessary as there are lots of beautiful places to walk in the area. The walled garden at the rear of the properties is an added bonus."

"Lovely modern and clean cottage, ideal for our disabled Mum being all on one level with a large walk in shower. Enclosed garden for our yorkie to run about in, very comfy beds. Friendly owner who was round and about keeping the grounds and gardens immaculate. Would definitely return."

"There is so much to say about this place and all of it is good! The cottage is exceptional. It was much larger than we had expected, so well equipped and spotlessly clean. Gill was extremely welcoming and helpful. The flowers, eggs, milk, biscuits and dog treats were a lovely surprise. The homemade marmalade was especially good! Soberton is a lovely village, with a great pub serving very good food. We have had such fantastic weather and it has been so nice to be able to relax, either in the garden at the cottage or having a cold drink at the pub, which is just a short walk away. The walled garden is so beautiful, a place of true tranquility and a real credit to Gill. We have enjoyed great walks along the Meon Valley right from the cottage door. We have visited many lovely places; Bishops Waltham, Langstone, Emsworth, Lymington and Bosham, to name a few. The walk to Old Winchester Hill was so worth it for the views across the South Downs. West Wittering beach was beautiful and great for our dog to take a cooling dip. We really and sincerely did not want to leave and hope to be back very soon."

"We stayed a fortnight to be near our daughter who lives nearby, awaiting the imminent birth of her second child - that didn't happen during the fortnight! However, the cottage was brilliant in every way. Comfortable, modern, well planned and well equipped. In addition it had its own fenced garden that we were able to eat in as the weather was excellent. There was also a Courtyard the other side of the cottage which overlooked a walled garden - another brilliant asset to the cottage - which could be accessed at any time of the day or evening. It was like a NT garden on your doorstep! Additionally, there was a separate large field where we could exercise our springer spaniel. There are separate laundry and boot rooms within the Courtyard area so in wet weather these would be a real asset for walkers in particular. The surrounding countryside must be some of England's best and only a short walk from the cottage is the local pub, a very interesting church and a footpath leading to the river Meon."

"Superb cottage. Stayed as a party of 3 adults and two dogs. Everything has been thought of down to a water bowl for the dogs and even a dog loo!! Beds were exceptionally comfortable, kitchen well appointed and had everything you could possibly need (and if you didn't want to self cater, the pub just 150 yards away served fantastic food). Would definately stay again if we wanted to explore this part of the South Downs further."
    Rosemary ‐ 28 Apr 2018
"Great bungalow, everything was new and of good quality from the towels to the furniture. We were 4 adults staying a week and the place still felt spacious. Added benefit is that a pub serving great food is only a 100 yards down the road"
    Sarah ‐ 14 Apr 2018
"We had a super relaxing break, just what we wanted with long walks in beautiful countryside, lovely pubs with excellent atmosphere and food. We were greeted upon arrival and made to feel very welcome with flowers, fresh eggs and even treats for the dogs. The cottages are well designed and equipped with everything we needed for our holiday. The fenced garden was great for the dogs and sitting out in to admire the view or stargaze. We spent a week at Courtyard Cottage and enjoyed every moment."

"This, along with the other 2 bungalows are in a lovely area. Set around a courtyard with picnic tables and a gravel area in the middle. A beautiful gated walled garden to sit in or play croquet (dogs not allowed in here) Very peaceful."

"We stayed in the Courtyard Cottage for a long relaxing weekend with our 2 dogs and we all thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t want to leave. Gill was very friendly and helpful when I called to arrange key collection which is pick up via a Keysafe outside the property. Gill did pop round to make sure all was well a little later when we had settled in. We knew then that she was easily contactable if we needed anything but then she left us alone. Thank you for the treats for us and the dogs very welcoming. The dog bowls was a nice touch. There is parking for 2 cars right outside the front door. These cottages are in a lovely quiet location. Pub in walking distance that provides food. Pretty church just down the round. Great Views around the cottages and there is the use of a lovely Walled garden next to the cottages (dogs not allowed). There is decent wifi within this property. The superking bed was very very comfortable which I’m sure the twin room beds would have been too but on this occasion it was just the two of us. The place kept us lovely and warm as it was a cold weekend that we went. This is a good property to bring dogs as there is a small but secure garden and walks on the doorstep. Table and chairs on the paved patio area to enjoy the views if the weather was better as we had mainly rain but that didn’t dampen our stay. Love the idea of the Laundry room and Boot room separate from the cottages. We will definitely be back."
