Wild Poppy Cottage is situated beside the owner’s home and has its own secluded garden and easy bus links into Winchester. The property comprises a well-equipped, modern kitchen and spacious living area for you to relax in the evenings. Downstairs there is also a twin bedroom, while upstairs is a double bedroom and a family bathroom.
During your stay a must visit is Winchester Cathedral, which draws many visitors due to its connection with Jane Austen who was buried here in 1817. This cathedral was also used during the filming of the Da Vinci Code with the north transept used as the Vatican. Winchester Cathedral is the starting point of the 34 mile long St Swithun’s Way, a long distance footpath opened in 2002 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II. You can also visit Winchester City Mill and Wolvesey Castle, a ruined castle also known as the Old Bishops Palace. The great hall of Winchester Castle houses the medieval round table linked to King Arthur.

The cottage does not have the best “kerb appeal” but once you’re through the door everything is good. The cottage is bright, clean and airy and has everything you will need. We stayed just as the weather was turning cold but the cottage was lovely and warm. The pub over the road serves really good food, with friendly staff and at reasonable prices. We took the bus into Winchester, bus stop just outside entrance and £4.30 pp return. All in all, a very good stay.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and tastefully furnished .The owners couldn't have made us more welcome.There was a friendly Pub just across the road with very nice food and if you don't have a car there is a bus stop right outside the cottage. It was a peaceful area and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.We would definitely recommend this to anyone !!!
