Dashwood House will have you feeling like the lead in a Jane Austen book or film, or at the very least an extra. It has a corner for everyone in the group. Children, dogs (and the more energetic adults) can puff themselves out hurtling around in the woods at the bottom of the garden, whilst the more sedate can sip tea from the patio or find quiet repose in the supremely comfortable interiors. During muddier seasons, pop some logs on the two open fires and snuggle next to the wood burners, a cocoa beside you and a book in hand. Or sink into the bubbling wood fired tub with your favourite cocktail, whilst looking out for deer and other wildlife in the garden.
This Grade II listed house has the charm of the ages, mixed with contemporary fixtures and stunning interior flourishes. Every room is like a photo from a White Company or Farrow & Ball magazine. You’ll be taking photos of lamps and light fixtures; it’s that sort of place.
Looking to while away an hour with a book or two? Keen to sink into a plush sofa and giggle with friends? Prefer to play video games and stream Netflix? Or confident enough for a recital on the baby grand piano? You can organise all of these at once. The large reception hall with piano is an entertainment space par excellence (just organise someone to come round with canapés), the three receptions rooms allow for all manner of relaxation and revelry, and the snug room with DVDs and games console provides 21st century screen time for those tired out from all the rest!
As the evenings draw to a close and the yawns begin, retire to your magnificent bedroom with stately country decor and luxurious bed. If you’re in one of rooms with a super king then you’ll find a superbly outfitted en-suite. If you’re in the master bedroom, your en-suite will have a romantic roll-top bath. The bedrooms with twins don’t miss out though, as they share a large bathroom with a bath big enough for a small orca.
The kitchen would make any chef envious; it’s a treat to look at, let alone cook in. With the Aga warming your toes be careful not to trip over your dozing dog; if you’ve brought any they wont want to be anywhere else. Cook your feast in style, and options abound for setting the table. Choose from three dining options. The dining room seats 16, the breakfast room seats 12, or go al fresco with seating for 12. Looking to have too much fun elsewhere? Then why not book one of our chefs to help you…
Dining out and exploring is easy too. The ancient city of Winchester is only just down the road, replete with history and restaurants galore. Or acres of national park in the New Forest are a short car journey away, with pubs, pigs, heather and ponies. And if the medieval village of Bishops Waltham doesn’t charm your socks off then we’ll assume you’ve travelled from Hobbiton.
With all this at Dashwood House, you’ll be finding excuses to book a return trip before you’ve even left.

Three of the bedrooms have zip & link beds which can be made up as singles or double, please request at time of booking.

How long will it take to drive there?
