    About this property

Imagine a sea fort full of history, the sound of seagulls and crashing waves, views of yachts and a sunset engulfed by the sea. Imagine a family party, a celebration, a wedding reception or an incentive weekend in a unique and impressive venue a mile off the coast. The Captain's Fort in the middle of the Solent is this place.

Originally designed to protect Portsmouth harbour from a French invasion, work started on Napoleonic Fortress in the 1860s, taking 17 years to complete. This venue will be the talk of the town and anyone attending an event here can't fail to be delighted and surprised at the pure drama of its unique setting.  The sympathetic refurbishment has kept many of the original features such as the windows, the vaulted ceilings and the gun emplacements, and as a result guests will be treated to four floors of both history and luxury. The Captain's Fort sleeps up to forty-four guests across twenty-two beautiful en-suite rooms. Arguably the best room is found at the top of the private lighthouse and is a glass-floored penthouse suite. Climb up here and you’ll enjoy spectacular views over the Solent and of the passing boats and cruise liners.

Other features of this impressive fort include two helipads, a nightclub, laser quest, games and snooker rooms, a gallery restaurant, wine bar and spa facilities with a range of treatments on offer. Guests can also sign up to various water sports such as yachting, jet skiing and fishing. On the roof there are hot tubs, a boules area and a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows!

The fort can only be accessed by boat from Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth making it effectively a private island just two hours from London. There's no other venue like it – for a lasting impression, this is the place.
