About this property

Imagine a sea fort full of history, the sound of seagulls and crashing waves, views of yachts and a sunset engulfed by the sea. Imagine a family party, a celebration, a wedding reception or an incentive weekend in a unique and impressive venue a mile off the coast. The Napoleonic Fortress in the middle of the Solent is this place.

Originally designed to protect Portsmouth harbour from a French invasion, work started on Napoleonic Fortress in the 1860s, taking 17 years to complete. This venue will be the talk of the town and anyone attending an event here can't fail to be delighted and surprised at the pure drama of its unique setting.  The sympathetic refurbishment has kept many of the original features such as the windows, the vaulted ceilings and the gun emplacements, and as a result guests will be treated to three floors of both history and luxury.

The conversion is impressive with a dedicated Champagne bar, a function room with incredible views, a Library, a gym, two rooftop sun-decks, a sauna, an open-air hot tub for 10 people and even a light house. In keeping with its private nature the Fort sleeps 18 in its 9 individually designed en suite bedrooms. Guests access the Fort by boat making it effectively a private island just two hours from London and close to Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. There's no other venue like it – for a lasting impression, this is the place.

The fort is stunning, the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming, the food was fantastic and the rooms were superb. We had ridiculously big grins on our faces from the moment we arrived to the minute we left.

Not often lost for words but Wow from start to finish. We have returned today from 24 hours exclusive use of the Fort for a friends surprise 50th birthday celebration and it was truly amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff (all of whom were very knowledgable), accommodation, facilities, food etc all excellent.
