Rowland's Castle and beyond

Rowland's Castle is set around a traditional village green and the remains of the old castle sit very close to the cottage. It borders the southern fringe of the South Downs National Park offering easy access north to the South Downs Way that passes by at Butser Hill and through the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Both the cathedral city of Chichester and the historic dockyard at Portsmouth are 10 miles away, along with the natural harbours of Chichester and Langstone both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and popular with both wildlife enthusiasts and those with a passion for sailing.

Chichester city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle.Chichester is also home to the famous Festival Theatre. It is renowned for its quality of productions as well as featuring many world premieres. We have a link to the theatre from our website under “What’s On”.

Historic Portsmouth is famous as the home of HMS Victory and also more recent years the Mary Rose. . The historic dockyard sits right next to Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower which offer spectacular views over Portsmouth and the Solent. The accommodation is excellent. Quiet and well presented. Owners left some goodies, Bread butter milk etc. This is always helpful and well received. The location was great. Close to a pub a shop a tea room. All you need for a real break. It's an amazing little place, and I love the name, Rowlands Castle, close enough to bigger towns, easily accessed by train if you don't want to drive. I would return without a doubt.
