About this property

A rural retreat with stunning views across unspoilt countryside to the South Downs. Unique, comfy and well equipped accommodation, within easy travelling distance of London and ideal for short breaks, longer stays, or just a relaxing weekend get-away in a peaceful location.

Nestling in a stunning rural location in the High Weald of East Sussex, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, Spring Harbour offers an idyllic experience for families in search a tranquil retreat, friends enjoying time out from the city and a quintessential English countryside setting to delight overseas visitors.

Relaxing on the south facing veranda, taking in the view of the ever changing outlook from morning to night, will just inspire and quickly remove any stresses from modern life. The cosy living room with its feature open fireplace forms the heart of the accommodation when days are cooler. The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped for a longer stay and there is a family bathroom with a shower fitted above the bath and a separate toilet.

Spring Harbour is recommended for a maximum of six guests because of its overall size. The space is compact, but that is the appeal of this special building. All three double bedrooms enjoy outstanding views to the south and are perfect for families or couples. There is a fourth bedroom with a single guest bed (converting to an additional double) if separate rooms or extra accommodation is required, which can also be made available on request.

As Spring Harbour is in a rural location you will need a car to get the most out of your stay or a taxi to get to restaurants, train stations or shops. There is ample parking on the driveway.

The gardens offer privacy and of course completely uninterrupted views towards the South Downs.

High Hurstwood and beyond

Spring Harbour sits in splendid isolation on the edge of the small village of High Hurstwood, between the market towns of Crowborough and Uckfield in East Sussex. It is perfect for enjoying the rolling countryside of the High Weald with no shortage of local attractions or places of interest to visit, practically on the doorstep.

Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes, Hastings and Alfriston are an easy day trip. Half an hour away, Royal Tunbridge Wells is a great shopping and dining destination and if you are planning a trip to London this is the easiest commute.

There are ample public footpaths and cycle routes to explore and an exhaustive supply of excellent country pubs to visit.

Nearby, Ashdown Forest covers 14,000 acres of lowland heathland that has never been cultivated and offers extensive opportunities for walking. It was famously Henry viii’s hunting ground – but is also a must for all Winnie the Pooh fans. The adjacent village of Hartfield was home to A. A. Milne.

The view from Spring Harbour draws your eye to the South Downs and Firle Beacon towards Birling Gap on the coast. Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters Country Park are within a thirty minute drive and will always make an excellent day out.
