About this property

A delightful holiday apartment for two, in the beautiful historic town of Rye

You will find the apartment, along a cobbled alleyway, a stones throw away from the historic Landgate of Rye. As you approach the apartment, you climb the steps to the decked terrace, where you can sit, day or night and enjoy the tranquility. You enter the property through a stable door, straight into the open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. Windows on two sides, flood the apartment with light and add to the spacious feel. The apartment is well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

You take the narrow stairs down to the basement, where you will find the bedroom and the ensuite shower room. Fluffy dressing gowns & ample towels are provided for your stay.

You have the option of booking a treatment with Sharon Devold- Rye Sanctuary (subject to availability), and Helge a trained chef, can provide meals and picnic lunches, if requested. The ultimate in pampering and making your stay special.

Rye and beyond

Studio 22 is in an enviable position and is a perfect bolt hole for those romantic weekends away. A short stroll and you have the local deli, green grocers, bakery and butchers, all selling local produce. Several pubs and restaurants are all within easy walking distance and a short stroll down to the fishermen's quay you can purchase fresh fish off the boats, caught that day. The area around here is a mixture of beautiful countryside and fabulous beaches, all on your doorstep to explore.

A gentle stroll and you can visit the Heritage Centre where you can watch the Town models 'Sound and Light' show, which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and it's inhabitants. Or amble around the many antique shops in the Strand Quay and hunt out a bargain!

The town of Winchelsea is a ten minute drive away and like Rye, has a rich history and links to the days of smugglers. One of the many cellar tours that take place during the year is a worthy visit, and a chance to see parts of the town that are not normally on show. With far reaching views over the marshes and out to sea, it really is a pleasant way to spend a few hours and the delightful tea room is a great place to stop for refreshments.

Just 10 minutes drive away is the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where you can walk along the sea wall and out on to the marshes to enjoy floral and fauna. You can choose to walk out to Camber Castle originally located on a shingle spit and where once it protected the towns of Rye and Winchelsea, before the sea receded. Although no longer open to vistors it is still a striking landmark worth a visit. The award winning blue flag beach of Camber Sands is just a short drive away and has miles of sandy beach and dunes to explore. Or visit the rock pools at low tide of the pebbly beach at Pett Level, just a 10 minute drive from Rye.

The towns of Hastings and Ashford are around a thirty minute drive away and here you can get main line trains to London, if you wish to explore the capital for a day. If you wish to take a day trip to the continent, the Eurostar can be picked up from Ashford International station and trains to Paris, Lille and Brugge are available. Alternatively the ferries run from Dover just 45 minutes away or the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone a 45 minute drive.

The property was situated in a lovely area. Very quirky entrance to the studio. The basement bedroom was lovely and cool and very dark at night which we love. Everything was supplied that we could possibly have needed. The owner was on hand if we needed help but not intrusive. All round would recommended and we would stay there again.

We had a lovely time staying in your cottage. It had everything we needed, and Rye was a perfect holiday for relaxing.

Peaceful bolt-hole, with the beauty of Rye on your doorstep. Friendly and helpful owner. Handy for restaurants and great views from the top of the town. We found this to be comfortable and well equipped. Lovely to be able to just walk out your door in the evening to a number of lovely restaurants, and to admire the beauty of Rye, but also handy for other attractions.
