There is The Bull in the hamlet of Three Leg Cross or The Bell in the village of Ticehurst where you will also find a pop up fishmongers on Saturdays. This village also boasts a general store, Post Office, artisan bakery, greengrocer, cafe and art gallery.
A short drive away (10 minutes) you will discover the village of Wadhurst, offering a wealth of shops including a small supermarket, a butchers and an excellent wine merchant, The Secret Cellar. You can also delight in a delicious meal at the Michelin starred restaurant, The Curlew in Bodiam, a 15 minute drive away.
The house is an excellent base from which to explore the many National Trust properties in the area, stroll round the beautiful Scotney Castle, Sissinghurst Castle Garden, Bodiam Castle or Batemans. If not through the lovely and charming Pashley Manor Gardens, Hush Heath or Chapel Down Vineyards.
For the sports enthusiasts play a round of golf at Dale Hill Golf Club which also benefits from a leisure club with gym and indoor pool. Otherwise enjoy a day out at Bedgebury Forest, home to the National Pinetum, extensive cycling trails or for those with a head for heights, there is the action packed Go Ape.
Slightly further afield you will discover the spa town of Tunbridge Wells (20 minutes) which hosts a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants or Camber Sands and the Cinq Ports town of Rye (40 minutes).

"What a lovely property - as well as being spotlessly clean and very comfortable in every way, this was an absolute haven of loveliness. Outside each little window was a peaceful country view, and inside every comfort imaginable, from the scrumptious hamper to the comfy beds and fluffy towels. We loved the circular bedroom and kitchen. And all this only an hour from home. If you can bear to leave the place, pop down the road to Pashley Manor, which has the most beautiful gardens and cafe."

"Beautifully presented property in a wonderful location. It lived up to all our expectations.Only couple of suggestions - firstly a bath mat being available in the bathrooms. One of our guests was worried they would slip as they suffer with a bad back stepping in and out of the bath with nothing to hold ontoSecondly - slightly more cutlery would be good as we kept running out between meals !Thank you"

"Baker's Farm Oast was one of the best - if not the best - RR cottage we have stayed in. The accommodation was immaculate, the setting very peaceful and the owner very friendly. Our only criticism would be the lack of a wardrobe in the double bedroom - if you are staying for two weeks, as we were, it a long time to have your clothes hanging on hooks round the walls. There is, of course, a wardrobe in the twin room, but when two friends are staying (as we were) both bedrooms are in use and it was not convenient for my friend to keep her clothes in 'my' wardrobe."

"The most wonderful place. Everything you could possibly need and a clean bed mid-stay! (We stayed for two weeks)."

"Lovely peaceful setting off the beaten track. An ideal base to do Kent and East Sussex. Generally comfortable, we were disappointed the main bed isn't wider - there's plenty of room to accommodate a super king, and some bright bedside reading lights would be helpful."

"Thank you very much. The oast house has been a faultless haven for the week. It has all the comforts of modern life, and none of the drawbacks - noise, lights, clutter etc. We all feel very much better after our peaceful holiday. The Bull is a lovely pub. Also really enjoyed Great Dixter garden and a day in Brighton. Had two lovely pub lunches - The Bull at Benenden and The Bottle House near Penshurst. Lovely walk around the headland. THANK YOU."
    The Hentzen Family
"We had the best time, setting is beautiful! Kids enjoyed seeing the sheep, horses, squirrels, pheasants and rabbits so close and we enjoyed days out to Bodiam Castle, Bedgebury Forest and Groombridge. So nice to return to the oast after a tiring day. The house had everything we needed and the hamper was great (the apple juice went down well!). We can recommend The Bell and The Bull for a family pub meal. P.S. Mummy had the best 40th birthday whilst she was here. Thank you!"
    The Bruce family
"We have enjoyed our stay in the oast house. Also we went to lots of places - the Seven Sisters, Bewl Water, Ticehurst, and the Battle place of 1066. The house was nice to be able to come back and relax in another place. Our beds were soft, games fun, and the polished floor a bit slippery. The apple juice and biscuits you left us we ate and drank and enjoyed. We munched through nearly all of your oranges you left us to eat. Going into Ticehurst from the oast house. A pub called The Bell we went to. For breakfast we usually had your Alpen you left us. As we have so enjoyed our stay we shall recommend this oast house. Thanks for everything."

"Having already been to five “Rural Retreats” around the country we found Bakers Farm Oast to be the very best. The décor, fixtures and fittings are all so well chosen. It is such a wonderful, relaxing place to be with amazing views from every window. Tunbridge Wells and Rye are worth visiting, also we have been lucky to be able to take in the “Midwinter Fair” at Bedgebury Pinetum – really enjoyable. Great walks to Bewl Water and excellent meals at The Bull. Thank you Angela for making our stay a fantastic break."

"What a haven! We have enjoyed a much needed rest in this beautiful property. We even saw a pheasant strolling past the French doors at breakfast time! The property has been finished to an exceedingly high standard, with no skimping on the fixtures, fittings and accessories. We enjoyed doing the 7 mile Ticehurst circular walk which took in part of the walk around Bewl Water. Rye was worth a visit with some very quaint and quirky shops. Even bought a few Christmas gifts. We received a very warm welcome at The Bull, just down the road, and enjoyed a couple of delicious meals there. Thank you so much to The Anderson Family for sharing this little gem with us!"

The house is gorgeously decorated, and the attention to detail is apparent throughout. We managed to light a fire every day and enjoy the cosy autumn evenings. In fact, we can’t wait to come back and enjoy other seasons in the oast! Thank you to the Anderson family!!"
