About this property

Just a short trip to Seaford's promenade and on the fringe of the South Downs - a perfect base for a short break away

Located right at the top of the town and close to Bo Peep Hill, this light and spacious property is ideal for two people who enjoy walking and exploring this most beautiful area on the eastern end of the South Downs close to Beachy Head. Set next to the owners’ home, Lambles is completely private with a large living room and excellent sized bedroom with ensuite shower room. The bedroom overlooks the rear garden which is neatly screened and from the bedroom guests step out onto a small private terrace set with table and chairs.

Bo Peep Hill and the Downs is literally a short walk from the house while the centre of Seaford is just a ten minute walk along pleasant residential lanes where you can enjoy a variety of independent shops, bars and restaurants in the heart of this small seaside town. The town promenade stretches for two miles allowing for bracing sea walks and culminating to the east at Seaford Head where the chalk cliffs meet the shoreline.

The owners here know the area exceptionally well and are delighted to provide you with endless ideas on what to do if you ever get stuck or would welcome some pointers!

Seaford and beyond

Seaford is a small seaside resort that is in one of the most beautiful downland coastal areas you will find. The cliffs rise from the town up to Seaford Head offering fabulous cliff top walks towards Cuckmere Haven and the Seven Sisters, one of the most recognisable views in England. For golf lovers the course at Seaford Head is both challenging and stunning in its setting. This part of East Sussex is where the South Downs meet the sea en route to Beachy Head to the east.

The Seven Sisters Country Park and visitor centre at Cuckmere is a must for any visit. It takes the name of the famous cliffs and comprises 280 hectares of chalk cliffs, the meandering river valley of the River Cuckmere and chalk grassland for visitors to enjoy. It is popular for a number of outdoor activities including birdwatching, cycling and canoeing. We carry a link to the country park from our Places to visit in East Sussex page on our website, so please take the time to read more.

Further east you will find the Belle Toute Lighthouse atop the cliffs close to Beachy Head. The South Downs Way passes immediately beside it. Decommissioned many years ago it was famously moved back in one piece from the cliff edge in 1999 following the constant coastal erosion of the cliffs. It was also the setting of a BBC mini-series in the 1980’s, 'The Life and Loves of a She-Devil'. The famous Beachy Head lighthouse is just a mile further east on the end of the South Downs above the seaside resort of Eastbourne, part of the sunshine coast.

Two miles Inland from Seaford is the beautiful village of Alfriston in the heart of the Downs. The Clergy House in Alfriston was the very first property acquired by the National Trust in 1896 for the princely sum of £10. More up to date, Drusillas Zoo Park just two miles north of the village makes an excellent day out for families with young children. Details of both Drusillas and Alfriston Clergy House are featured on our website together with Newhaven Fort a fascinating Victorian Naval Fortress three miles to the west of Seaford.

Six miles inland Lewes is the principal market town of East Sussex featuring many historic buildings including the castle and Anne of Cleves House. It is one of the few towns within the boundary of the South Downs National Park.

Lambles is not only a cottage...but a full equipped house! The Owners were very friendly and helped us whenever we needed help. The house was nice, tidy and clean and our dog was as welcomed as we were. Lambles is just a few minutes drive from the sea and shops. There is plenty to do and to see and we did enjoy a wonderful time! We would recommend this place and hope to come back sometime.

Our stay here was wonderful. The property was beautiful could not have wished for better. The level of equipment provided was amazing. We would highly recommend this property to anyone it has everything you could wish for. We were welcomed by the owners and told to ask for anything we were not sure about but notices in the bungalow meant we did not have to do that. A truly lovely experience. Many thanks
