Light and airy inside, there are views onto a delightful patio and lawn with fields beyond. Good quality wooden furniture makes for a lovely outside eating area which is bordered with lavender bushes and seasonal flowers.
A perfect bolthole for cosy nights in or a summer retreat, the Jam shed offers open plan living with a well equipped kitchen, comfy sofas and TV. Stairs lead to a loft bedroom with a kingsize bed and views across the garden to the pond.
The Jam Shed is located on the outskirts of Plumpton Village within walking distance of Plumpton train station with direct line via Gatwick to London Victoria, a racecourse and an excellent village shop selling fresh bread and croissants, local produce and quality meals to take back to the Jam Shed if you don’t fancy cooking. Alternatively why not walk across the fields to The Jolly Sportsman pub, a former Victorian alehouse now well known for its food.

Beautiful barn conversion, great location for Lewes and walking, everything you could need was supplied, particularly like the small touches like the Nespresso machine. The bedroom was hard to stand up in and got very hot at night, not a major problem but worth knowing in advance.

The cottage had been cleaned but not as thoroughly as I would expect i.e. bathroom bins not changed, old gone off milk in fridge, just felt a bit slapdash and I was a little uncomfortable. I understand I booked last minute (Friday morning) but the bookers were aware we were not arriving at the cottage until late that day and there was time to give it the once over. The fittings themselves are dubious diy jobs, nothing was very solid and we were careful handling everything as it felt like it could fall apart in our hands – shaky handles, radiators just suspended on walls, mdf throughout, wires sticking out. And we had to learn the ways of the shower which was just plain annoying after 20mins trying. Saying that, the cottage was decorated really well, it is a restful space with lots of little nice touches. The bed was extremely comfortable despite the room being very low ceiling. And overall we had a lovely time and a lovely break from the city, so thank you to the Jam Shed.
