Stay at this luxury mid Sussex holiday apartment tucked away along quiet rural lanes and visit Sheffield Park, the Bluebell Railway and much more
A lot of thought has gone into making the presentation just so at Rock House Mews to ensure a superbly comfortable and relaxing experience for guests. This first floor apartment sits within the grounds of the owners' small country estate on the outskirts of the pretty village of Newick.
Accessed by an external spiral staircase it's a peaceful retreat with a restful outlook from the private patio. From the apartment roof windows there are open views towards the South Downs which just add to an overall impression of openness and peace here. The apartment is presented to an excellent standard with the large living room offering a quiet, private and spacious place to relax. The double bedroom is bright and airy and from the roof window presents you each morning with an outlook that draws your eye automatically across the fields and countryside towards the South Downs in the distance.
The kitchen is well equipped for two and there is a modern shower room with luxury towels and a good sized shower cubicle.
Newick and beyond
Newick is five miles east from Haywards Heath so Rock House Mews is well located for a lot of the attractions not just around mid Sussex but across the county as a whole. The nearest of course is The Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park along with the equally famous Sheffield Park Gardens owned by the National Trust. It is a magnificent internationally renowned ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped garden. To the west the equally picturesque gardens at Borde Hill are also worth visiting. Also nearby is the village of Ardingly with the South of England Showground home to the South of England Show each June, and various other events throughout the year. Also in Ardingly is the Kew Gardens outpost in Sussex at Wakehurst Place. With so much to do nearby you will need to stay for a fortnight!
A short distance north east through the picturesque village of Fletching you quickly reach the Ashdown Forest, with 14,000 acres of lowland heathland that has never been cultivated, it provides a unique habitat for many species of flora and fauna, and of course is the ‘home’ of Winnie the Pooh! For those who love walking or cycling there are miles of trails to explore and views that carry the eye south towards the South Downs.
Due south from the Rock House Mews, Lewes the county town of East Sussex is only fifteen minutes away and home to Anne of Cleve’s house and also the Harvey’s Brewery which is central to the town. Taking a tour is certainly of interest.
Just outside Lewes is Glyndebourne the world famous opera house where opera has been held annually since 1934 and it is particularly famous for its productions of Mozart’s operas. It is all within a twenty minute drive from the apartment.
