About this property

Old Town Hideaway is the perfect family friendly holiday cottage in the heart of Hastings Old Town, within minutes of the beach and the famous fishing huts and Hastings Country Park.

You enter straight into a small hallway, with stairs leading up to the bedrooms and bathroom and a door to your left leading to the lounge. The lounge is bright and airy with plush blue sofa's and ample soft lighting. A large TV with Sky, for cosy evenings in or a rainy day and Wifi for all your planning, day out needs. A small selection of puzzles and board games for the children are provided, along with a high chair and travel cot for the smaller members in your party. A door leads to the generous fitted kitchen, with folding dinning table and chairs for four. There is a separate utility room off the kitchen with a washer dryer and large sink and large fridge freezer. Off the utility room is a separate WC.

Upstairs you have two good sized bedrooms. The one to the rear is the double bedroom with views over the garden and the front bedroom is set up as a twin but can be configured into a double if requested at the time of booking. There is a large family bathroom with a corner bath with shower facilities, a hand basin and WC.

From the kitchen a door leads out to the garden, which is set over several terraced levels, laid to lawn and with established shrubs and seasonal flowers. There are two patio areas with seating and providing views over the roof tops of the Old Town. Although the garden is steep, there is a hand rail and stairs all the way to the top but young children in the party should not be left unattended at any time for their own safety.

There is parking at the cottage but this is not always guaranteed as it is not pre allocated. There is free parking on the road in front of the crescent that allows for four hours parking, with no return for two hours and it is quite possible to park here and then move your car to a space outside the property when one becomes available. Otherwise there is a council car park just three minutes from the property.

At Old Town Hideaway you are perfectly positioned to explore all that the Old Town & Hastings has to offer without needing to get into the car.

Hastings and beyond

Old Town Hideaway is less than ten minutes from the sea front and five minutes from the bustling, thriving High Street. The Old Town is an eclectic mix of bric-a-brac shops, galleries, independent boutiques, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. It is hard to pass the window of the award winning Judges Bakery, without being tempted to go in, you have been warned. If you are looking for evening entertainment then take in a film at the Electric Palace Cinema, an independent community based cinema which aims to bring you a wide choice of alternative films and film related events. Sign up for a Foyle’s War trail and visit all the locations used in the Old Town for the popular TV series. Looking to explore the Country Park then why not take the funicular up to the top or, if feeling fit, the many steps or footpaths close to the cottage. The view is worth the effort and you can walk for miles taking in the cliff views. Hastings Pier is located a pleasant walk along the seafront and throughout the year holds music events, so worth seeing if there is something that takes your fancy as tickets sell fast. The town is famous for the biggest beach-launched fishing fleet in Britain and much of the tradition has been kept. The net drying huts and fishing fleet can be found on the beach today, along with the many fresh fish stalls. The Jerwood Gallery is found close by and The Shipwreck and Coastal Heritage Museum is worth a visit.

The historic towns of Rye and Battle are a short drive or train trip away and are really worth a visit and a chance to step back in time and explore the medieval past and walk in the steps of smugglers and conquers in times gone by.

You are of course in 1066 Country and with that comes, Castles, National Trust Gardens and Grand Houses, plenty to visit during your stay but too many for me to list.
