About this property

Enjoy a classic apartment for two in fabulous Eastbourne

The Devonshire Apartment is a wonderfully central modern living space for two people seeking a short break away. The apartment is a matter of yards from Devonshire Park and the Devonshire Park Theatre, just a couple of minutes gentle stroll from Eastbourne Promenade and is perfectly situated for the many bars, restaurants and galleries within the town.

This is a superbly appointed first and second floor apartment that is really bright and spacious with a traditional bay window adding extra light to the living room and kitchen area. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped however we reckon the choice of local restaurants will lure you away!

The bedroom is a double and has an ensuite bathroom upstairs, so is neatly separated from the living area below and is a good sized uncluttered space. The bathroom has a bath with a shower attachment fitted above and has the added luxury of bath robes and beach towels provided for your use, a really nice touch. A sofa bed can be made available downstairs should couples require that extra flexibility.

Although the apartment does not have a dedicated parking space, the owner can organise voucher parking immediately outside while there is also ample free parking behind the apartment.

Eastbourne and beyond

Eastbourne is famously known as the sunshine coast having some of the best weather in England. Everything is within easy reach. The lower slopes of the South Downs drop down from Beachy Head on to the magnificent promenade that stretches for almost two miles to Eastbourne’s Victorian Pier. It is a town that successfully mixes tradition with modern appeal.

In the summer it comes alive with the very popular Eastbourne Airborne together with the aegon International Tennis just prior to Wimbledon in June, a tournament which attracts many of the world’s top tennis players. The tournament is in Devonshire Park so is very close to the apartment.

With its sheltered setting next to Beachy Head, Eastbourne also has some of the best Blue Flag beaches along the south coast, so with its excellent sunshine record Eastbourne makes for a wonderful holiday. A short distance to the east, the Sovereign Harbour Marina is one of the premier marinas in the south-east of England with many prestigious yachts moored here. From there, there are boat tours to both Beachy Head Lighthouse and Eastbourne’s other lighthouse the Sovereign Lighthouse a few miles out to sea at Pevensey.

Beachy Head is a magnificent backdrop, with its dramatic chalk cliffs and gently undulating Downs. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and marks the start of the 100 mile South Downs Way and the South Downs National Park.

From Beachy Head there are breathtaking views over the English Channel and down to Eastbourne. The white cliffs would not be complete without mention of the Beachy Head Lighthouse, one of the most recognisable sites in the whole of England. A short distance further west is the Belle Toute Lighthouse an impressive sight on the top of the chalk cliffs and made famous by the BBC who used it for the filming of Fay Weldon’s ‘Life and Loves of a She-Devil’.

It looks down on the small community at Birling Gap which sadly is gradually disappearing through cliff erosion. Heading west from Birling Gap the chalk cliffs rise towards the famous Seven Sisters, one of the most photographed views in England, before reaching the river estuary at Cuckmere Haven. Here the ox-bow lakes within the river are perfect for canoeing and kayaking activity.

To the east of Eastbourne, Pevensey and Pevensey Castle are on the edge of the Pevensey Levels, another Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and important for its birdlife and wildlife. The Levels are bordered to the north by the small town of Hailsham where there is the magnificent castle at Herstmonceux as well as the Observatory Science Centre both close to Hailsham.
