    About this property

This stunning, 16th-century, detached beamed farmhouse has been lovingly restored and stylishly decorated reflecting the eye of an interior designer. It nestles peacefully within the owners’ country estate in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The estate is farmed and the cottage is surrounded by cattle and sheep. The cottage enjoys its own enclosed lawned garden with a terrace and furniture, perfect for breakfast, a summers barbecue with friends and family, or to just relax and observe the wildlife.
Walk up to the village pub or take one of the footpaths through beautiful countryside and woodland, particularly delightful in the spring when the intoxicating smell of bluebells will feast your senses. For days out, visit Wakehurst Place, the country estate of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, Nymans, one of the National Trust premier gardens with glorious views stretching out across the Sussex Weald, High Beeches or a working corn mill at Clayton.
If the sun is shining, head to the beach at Brighton and don’t miss the fascinating shops in The Lanes. Visit the race track or paddocks for a flutter at Goodwood, or take a picnic to Glyndebourne. For additional sightseeing opportunities, there is good access to London by rail from Haywards Heath, 5 miles, to London Victoria, which takes approximately 45 minutes. Golf, fishing and riding are available locally. Beach 16½ miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

"The holiday and cottage were great. The grounds and location are perfect, and most aspects of the accommodation were excellent. I think they could be more generous with some of the kitchen equipment (e.g. 7 wine glasses for a cottage which accommodates 8 people; few saucepans; no vegetable peeler) which would make it perfect. I also gave this feedback in the comments book at the cottage."
"This is lovely house in an excellent location and good local restaurants. We were disappointed with the house though. When you pay premium prices you expect a premium property. For example the dishwasher was broken, we couldn't get the electric induction hob to work and couldn't find instructions. It was marketed as sleeping eight but only had 5 cereal bowels and a mixture of crockery odds and ends. There were too few saucepans. One of the patio chairs had a bolt missing and was potentially unsafe. Several lights didnt work despite changing the bulbs, (not something you should have to do when you arrive). The kitchen table was too small for anything other than two people, the logburner had not been cleaned out and there were cobwebs here and there. Then you are told that to use the hot tub will cost you £150! Clearly the owner doesn't want you to use it.If these issues are addressed we would stay again but until they are we couldn't recommend it. This post has been made with the full knowledge of English Country Cottages."
"A fabulous place to stay, beautiful"
"We all agreed we should come back."
"Beautiful cottage. Lovely weekend with family"
"The cottage was fab - just the place for our family get together. We would definitely go back and would recommend to others. Well equipped and nicely furnished (much better than your average rental!). Beautiful surroundings and lovely pub in the village. What more could you want?!"
"We had an absolutely lovely stay at Freechase Farm Cottage. The cottage is gorgeous and the estate in which is sits is absolutely beautiful. We would love to go back."

"One of the most peaceful places I have ever stayed in. Lovely."
"We loved our stay at the cottage. It is absolutely beautiful - the photos definitely don't do it justice - and extremely comfortable. Really appreciated the welcome gift of wine and chocolates, and of course apples from the trees outside. The local area was great - there is a really nice walk right from the door, and The Half Moon pub did one of the best Sunday lunches I'd had! A great place to escape for the weekend."
"A little piece of heaven in the English countryside"
"We booked this to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday with all the family and what a superb, little piece of heaven this place is! The cottage is extremely clean, cosy and very well equipped including quirky jam jars for pint glasses. There are beautiful walks through the woods to the local village with an abundance of deer and other wildlife. The enclosed garden was a blessing for our dog to give her a sniff off the lead, as all other areas require you to keep dogs on leads (understandably given the livestock in adjacent fields and wildlife in the woods). Many local pubs in the area that are doggy friendly too serving excellent food. Would love to visit again some day."
"Fabulous holiday location. The pictures don't do the cottage justice, it is beautifully restored to a very high standard. We were a family of 7 ranging from 1 to 78 and it was perfect for us all. Would highly recommend this cottage."
"We had a wonderful stay in Freechase Farm Cottage. The cottage is beautifully restored and furnished with elegance and generous attention to detail. The grounds of the farm are beautiful and you feel very rural and secluded while only an hour outside London. There is plenty to see and explore in the surrounding area from long walks and country pubs to Gardens and children's farms. There is no mobile phone reception in the cottage but the wifi is very good. The only point to note is that, in keeping with a property of this age, the ceilings are very low. My husband who is 6'4 could only stand upright in the kitchen and master bedroom. But with a beautiful garden and lovely weather it was worth a bit of a stoop."
"Beautifully decorated and well equipped. Very quiet location. No mobile reception but good wifi."
"A lovely cottage in a nice setting. Owners very friendly and welcoming."
"Great location, just over an hour from London which suited us well. A lovely property which was beautifully furnished and a very thoughtful welcome hamper including a birthday badge and other goodies which was a pleasant surprise. The owners came to personally greet us and were very warm and friendly. All in all, a fantastic experience and we would definitely love to visit Freechase Farm cottage again :)"
