About this property

This traditional, detached cottage is situated in the heart of Watchet, on the North Somerset coast. It is set within a conservation area and, enjoying views over the harbour, this comfortable cottage is in a convenient and beautiful part of the village with easy access to shops and cafés, ideal for families seeking a relaxing holiday by the sea. The sitting room and separate dining room have beautiful wooden floors, which are both practical and stylish. The sitting room is ideal all year round, with its woodburner for cosy winter evenings and French doors which lead out into the garden. The fitted kitchen is well equipped and there is a door leading to the back garden and parking area. The ground floor double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and most of the first floor bedrooms have views over the marina, one with a balcony and outdoor furniture. For extra space and convenience, there is a second sitting room upstairs with views out to sea. Outside this lovely cottage, there is an enclosed garden with a barbecue where you can unwind with a cup of coffee whilst planning the next day’s activities, or dine alfresco. Take a gentle stroll from this lovely cottage down to the harbour and quaint shops or, for the more energetic, there are plentiful walks along the coastline towards the seaside village of Blue Anchor and its long promenade lined with fishermen. A short drive to the medieval village of Dunster is certainly worthwhile, with its cobbled streets abundant with cafes and gift shops. The popular resort of Minehead, with golden sandy beaches and plenty of activities on the traditional sea front is, again, only a short drive away. This spacious cottage by the marina offers a unique stay for families and friends.

Watchet is a delightful, small Somerset harbour village with a maritime history going back over two millennia, where visitors may enjoy the variety of quaint shops on offer and watch the boats in the marina. Watchet attracts railway enthusiasts from all around as The West Somerset Railway, twenty miles of preserved steam railway, passes through Watchet, and continues through stunning scenery to the coastal town of Minehead, approximately 9 miles away.

This was our second time there and we love it. We will definitely book again.

The facilities were exactly as described and clean, with a lovely welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits. Definitely a great cottage for a family with or without children.

The accommodation is as shown and all very clean and tidy. Perhaps one of the twin rooms is more suited to two youngsters and not adults due to it's size. The owner provided us with a generous welcome pack so no need to rush to the shop for supplies. Parking is for two small cars. What is not shown on the web page is the really pretty secluded garden and garden furniture, which we couldn't use due to the continual rain! Within no more than a very short walk are a local Co-Op and several pubs. The Esplanade Bar, a mere half minute walk from the accommodation sells some lovely Somerset cider as does Pebbles. You should try these! Can highly recommend 'The Star' but you need to book for Sunday lunch and choices are limited after the first sitting. The Food is reasonably priced too. The food at the Bell was average. Public transport runs hourly to Minehead or Taunton and all at £2 per trip and bus stop 2 minutes walk from our accommodation. If only we had had sunny weather we could have done a lot more. Overall an enjoyable stay. Would we return for a second visit - yes if someone else did the driving as it was a bit too far for us.
