… a mile from Winsham, set amid farmland behind the friendly owners’ former farmhouse, two stylish, semi-detached cottages recently converted from barns with flair and imagination, taking advantage of abundant natural light to make them bright and airy. The enclosed lawned rear gardens (tables/chairs) are divided by a half-screen and look on to open fields. Patio area to the front (bench). Use of owners’ barn (shared tumble drier, freezer) for bicycle storage. Heat supplied by eco-friendly biomass boiler; spring water. The cottages share an interconnecting door (lockable), useful when booked together by two families of up to 10 people who like to be independent. Two lovely cottages, either as individual accommodation or as one big house, just right for exploring the Somerset countryside and coast.
The Stone Barn: Spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave) with tiled floor, exposed flint walls, comfy sofas, TV/DVD, dining table/chairs for 6, lockable interconnecting door (shared with E36) and big French windows to the front and back gardens. Double bedroom (5’ bed), looking to the front, with en suite shower-room (wet-room suite). Stairs up to two more bedrooms with Velux windows − another double (5’ bed) with beams to the apex, and a twin (2’6” beds, zip-linkable to 5’ double) with en suite shower-room (suite). Bathroom (suite plus bath-shower).

"These barns were a perfect set up for us being a group of two families - a group of 4 adults and six children between us ranging from 20 months to 13 years old. The Owners telephoned us before arrival to check how we wanted the bedrooms arranging - with twin or double beds. They explained the downstairs had been set up with one large dining room and a large lounge across the two barns. This suited us perfectly as we had the daytime space to spend together and then the bedrooms were located at either end via two separate flights of stairs. We arrived to find a lovely cake baked by the Owner's daughter and some wine. The Owners showed us around on arrival and were very helpful with suggestions of beaches to visit etc. During our stay, we ventured to Lyme Regis a couple of times for chips on the beach and to watch the annual New Years Day swim - brrr! We also visited Taunton for some ten pin bowling to celebrate one of the children's birthdays and the beautiful Bridport. There was a Tesco located about 3 miles away which kept us stocked up with the essentials. All in all a fabulous break in a beautiful setting."
