The stairs lead to a well-furnished comfortable bedroom with super king-size zip/link bed and a contemporary en-suite shower room with walk-in shower. The Retreat is set back off a quiet country lane, with stunning rural views. There is off road parking behind gates, a secure outbuilding for bikes and a sitting out area with table, chairs and barbecue overlooking fields. In this very rural location the nearest amenities are at Wincanton, a sizeable market town about two miles away to the west with Wincanton Racecourse a 10 minute drive away and Gillingham about 5 miles south east. Some country pubs within 10 minutes’ drive include the Stapleton Arms in Buckhorn Weston. The village of Stoke Trister is set on the edge of the Blackmore Vale, a sweeping valley that runs across North Dorset.

Quiet walks through gently rolling hills, villages and farms are the main attraction nearby providing amazing views over the Blackmore Vale.

Within a very short drive is Shaftesbury, a medieval town featuring Gold Hill, instantly recognisable as the cobbled street used for many years in the Hovis TV adverts. The renowned National Trust property at Stourhead is a 10 minute drive away as is Bruton, home to the Hauser & Wirth arts centre. The Haynes Motor Museum, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Sherborne, Glastonbury, Stonehenge and Longleat are all within a half hour’s drive. Further afield attractions include a drive through the Cranborne Chase (AONB) to Salisbury Cathedral and Poole, Sandbanks and Brownsea Island are an hour’s drive away. The chalk figure of the Cerne Abbas Giant and the Roman city of Bath are both less than an hour away by car.
